http://www.freep.com/news/latestnews/pm4682_20050620.htm Monday, June 20, 2005 With 5.8 seconds left in Sunday night's Game 5, San Antonio's Robert Horry hit a three-pointer that proved to be the game-winner. RELATED CONTENT READER RESPONSE: Sending a message? This photo was taken moments after Horry's shot. His right hand is signaling that his shot went in. His left hand appears to be signaling something entirely different. The Pistons fans behind Horry were obviously distraught that he made the shot. The Free Press hasn't heard any buzz about Horry's below-the-waist gesture. Some readers suggested it's just an illusion, that Horry's hand is in front of his body, but our photo staff scrutinized six frames and decided that's not the case. Horry wasn't available for comment Monday, but Spurs spokesman Tom James said: "I don't think that question even merits a response. There were a thousand media people and 22,000 fans who saw this occur in person, so I'm just going to have to assume this is a case where a funny angle makes for an odd picture." What do you think? Did Horry just have an itch? Was it a message to the Pistons? Or was it a show of disrespect to the Palace crowd?
I really don't see why anyone should care. People get their panites in a bunch over the stupidest stuff these days. It's a freaking basketball game and emotions run high in that type of situation. So what if he grabbed his junk? Did it even offend anyone until they wrote this stupid article?
I have a great way of stopping pictures like that from happening. Put a hand in his face or stop him from getting the ball. Sounds simple enough!
This is the game where the shoulder stinger bothered him after that dunk, right? Looks to me he is clinching the arm in and holding his shorts because of the pain or discomfort. Maybe he shot the ball, it stung him to make him clinch and the camera caught him just as he started to celebrate but right before he let go of his shorts. Just a thought.
Does anybody have a picture of Cassell "carrying" his balls down the court in the playoffs last year?
