As I recall, JVG mentioned on the radio that he wanted to make a trade before the draft, so we could know which direction to go on draft day and in FA. Derrick has mentioned that Wesley would be traded on draft day, and there might be 2 trades on draft day, and that Sura will be gone too. I don't know whether these things are true are not, but suppose they are ...

What do you think the Rockets might do, in terms of (1) a predraft trade, (2) draft day trade of Wesley, (3) additional draft day trade?

I'd love to see us get all the draft picks we can. This draft is perfect for the Rockets, because it doesn't seem to have superstars, which we already have, but good starting type players deep into the second round. We need the youth, talent and depth to grow with Yao and TMac. I'd love to see us find a way to nab the Memphis pick, and any others that might be out there. If we got 3 or 4 picks from this draft, it'd be awesome.

I look for a trade with Boston where we pick up their #18 and Raef LaFrenz while they take back expiring contracts for Wesley and Spoon, a future lottery protected #1 and a #2 pick. We then use the #18 to pick up Taft (if available) or Roko-Leni (if Taft is gone). Then we use the #24 to take the best SF left on the board. No, I haven't laundered it in Real GM but I suspect it will be some deal like that.

I would puke if we took on Lafrentz's contract just to get a draft pick. Supposedly the pacers and Lakers have a deal for Bender+#17 for Slava+George+2nd rounder. And Bender's contract isn't even close to as bad as Lafrentz's. And you want us to throw in a future #1 too? Are the Celtics going to at least give us a reach around on that deal.

My guess is the first trade will be the rumored Wesley+Sura for Wells+#19 deal and the second draft day trade will be #19+#24 for a higher pick so the Rockets can draft Diogu or Warrick. Those moves leaves us without a starting point guard, so we'll use the MLE on a point guard.

for some crazy reason i seriously believe we will be making a trade with memphis. they are looking to get ride of williams or wells... so the draft scenerio would look intresting...

we could trade wesley + 24th pick for wells and their 19th pick. this would set us nice b/c it would give us a legit 3rd scoring option. and since we were able to get a sg in wells, we can draft a pg in jack or ukic. that instantly makes us a lot quicker/younger and a better perimeter defending team.

    or

we trade wesley + 24th pick for williams + 19th pick. this will give us a decent point guard who can distribute the ball. then we draft garcia or winston.. both great shooters who can learn to play D under JVG.

i would like to get the wells deal done more than williams...but others may disagree. and thats ok. i still love you.

anyways, we know JVG will want to have an experienced PF playing, so thats why i dont think we will draft one. now that we have tackled the point guard and lack of height/ quickness at the sg position we can spend a full MLE on a PF. this would be sexy... i would take any of these PFs:
    SAR
    Anderson
    Swift
    Marshall

WHAM BAM THANK YOU MAM! if we could do this we would be a lot more deep and dangerous.

    lineup:Situation 1
    Yao/Mutombo
    MLE on PF/Howard
    T-Mac/Bowen/Barry
    Wells/Sura/Barry
    Draft/Span/Barry

    lineup:Situation 2
    Yao/Mutombo
    MLE on PF/Howard
    T-Mac/Bowen/Barry
    Draft/Sura/Barry
    Williams/Span/Barry

yeah, Barry is in three spots...but ive seen em play em all too. and also remember we have a lot of expiring contracts that we could use later once the season starts... since nobody will just give up before the season starts and trade away good players for crapy ones.

im an idiot...i forgot about somoeon in the lineups

    lineup:Situation 1
    Yao/Mutombo
    MLE on PF/Howard
    T-Mac/Barry/Bowen
    Wells/Sura/Barry
    Draft/James/Span

    lineup:Situation 2
    Yao/Mutombo
    MLE on PF/Howard
    T-Mac/Bowen/Barry
    Draft/Sura/Barry
    Williams/James/Span

i dont like the idea trading for williams as much as i do for wells... since williams and james are pretty much the same type of player.
    things are intresting..thats no lie

And if the team having the rights to Diogu or Warrick wouldn't give up the pick unless you traded an expiring contract for a longer one....would that be a deal breaker? :D :p

Raef would be ideal, save for his 45 or so mil contract. Thus, he just is not worth expiring contracts.

Indy. There's the deal which makes great sense:

Croshere, whom they want to jettison as superfluous and expensive with return of RA.
RA, I have been told authoritively, will NOT be dealt BUT Indy wants to break up RA/Tinsley/SJax, SO SJax, and #17
    ---for---
    DW, Spoon, Baker + #24.

Salary cap heaven for Pacers, adult replacement for Reggie as youngster developes and a breakup of a difficult locker room clique for management.
Rox get AC, better than a combined SP/RB, but bad contract situation for an extra year.
JVG gets his latter day 'Spree', making the Rox younger, longer, more athletic at the 2.
    Better option in draft.

I know Indy wants to move those two, here's the way for a win-win for them and the Good Guys.
