I got a flyer from Microcenter recently that advertised one for $129. Amazon.com has several listed for around $150.

Internal will always be cheaper -- external you have to pay for the same drive, plus a cable, power supply, and case. Internal is quick and easy to hook up anyway -- don't sweat it.

If you don't have anything against buying online, go to www.staples.com. They have a couple of CD Writers in the $150-$180 range. The HP 9150i and the 9350i may work for you (both are internal drives).

When you go to check out, they'll ask you for a coupon code. Use 91213 for that code. You'll get $30 off + free shipping.

NOTE : your total purchase has to be $150 or more to get the $30 off. So if you buy the 9150i, it's only $149.98. Buy a couple of pens or something to bring it up $150.

If that's the case, then you just bought a good $150-$180 drive for about $120-$150 + tax.

There's actually a drive that's faster and cheaper at www.buy.com. The Creative Labs 32/12/10 drive. It's only $135.95, but they're back-ordered. I buy from these guys all the time; it's a safe company to buy from. There are other places on the 'Net that sell it for about the same price, but I've never dealt with them, so I can't recommend them. If you want, I can find them and post them for you.

    Good luck.

It might help if you defined "cheap". How much?
