[Disclaimer: music thread. If you don't like music threads, go back now.]

Kind of like the "favorite track ones" thread a while back, except with the last track. This might be more difficult as lots of throwaway tracks tend to go there. (If there's a hidden track on the end, it doesn't count.)

    a few of mine:

Electrolite - REM, New Adventures in Hi-Fi
St. Robinson and His Cadillac Dream - Counting Crows, This Desert Life (I know, there's a hidden track after it)
    The Wanderer - U2, Zooropa

"Prairie Rose" off "Country Life" - Roxy Music
"All Mixed Up" off "The Cars" - The Cars
"Untitled" off "Disintegration" - The Cure
"Eclipse" off "Dark Side of the Moon" - Pink Floyd
"Tea for One" off "Presence" - Led Zeppelin
"Won't Get Fooled Again" off "Who's Next" (no bonus tracks version) - The Who
"I Shall Be Released" off "Music From Big Pink" (no bonus tracks version) - The Band

I'll probably think of more but that is what came to mind first.

"And in the end; the love you take is equal to the love you make."

Not only the best closing of an album. But the best closing of a band.

For you youngins, that's the last recorded vocal of the Beatles.

Difficult to dispute this one, except for maybe "A Day in the Life" that get's my vote.

Although, I also like Manny's choice of The Who "Won't Get Fooled Again"

    "Ramshackle" - from Beck's Odelay

I picked this because I like to play it at places that have it on their jukebox. It's not the actual song I like but after it "ends" a secret song consisting of a bunch of really annoying noise plays. It usually makes everyone in the place jump when it first starts, and that pisses them off, it then goes on to really annoy them even more. It's great!

 Manny mentioned Prairie Rose... Truly the peak of an excellent LP.

Lady of the North from Gene Clarks' 'No Other' is such a song (pleasesomeone get this cruely ignored lp). Caroline No from the Beach Boys' 'Pet Sounds' also comes to mind.

    That's my pick as well.

Eclipse from DSOTM is a worthy selection also.

Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl, but she changes from day to day.
I want to tell her that I love her a lot, but I've got to get a belly full of wine.
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl, some day I'm gonna make her mine.
    Oh, yes.
Someday I'm going to make her-

I can tell you my least favorite, and that's "Everything Must Go," by Steely Dan, off their last album.

It's a tremendous song, it'll give you goosebumps for a couple of different reasons, but it's sort of a swinging epitaph in Bb. The band didn't officially break up after that, but they're probably done.

With the exception of "Coma," those are my favorite three songs from each of those bands.
