Should we draft him, an exceptional athlete who played out of position at Florida. PF whos stock is rising. Im not sold on Wayne or Ike, so I'd consider drafting Lee.
I'd take Simien or Diogu over Lee and I'm sure the Rockets would do the same. Lee's stock has been rising, but I think he will still be a 2nd round pick. If the Rockets don't select a PF (Simien, Diogu, Turiaf), I would like to pick up a swingman like Garcia or Winston.
I agree with Gucci... I would either go for a stronger PF that focuses on defense and rebounding (Diogu and Simien would be best, then Turiaf would be next best). If they aren't there, then I would go for Garcia (great shooter) or Hodge (I prefer Hodge to Winston).
Lee's offense just isn't very good, and certainly not NBA-ready. He can't really shoot, and for a guy who's as long and as athletic as he is, he ain't much of a shotblocker. We'd be better off just drafting the best player available, and Lee most likely won't be the best player available. But we can always sign Chris Andersen, who's a better player anyway...
http://nbadraft.net/profiles/davidlee.asp "Strengths: Uses his size well…Quicker than most big men, and can slide through players in the lane… A good rebounder who really works on the glass… Relentlessly hits the offensive boards … He can step out and hit the occasional 18-footer …decent handle for a big man and can drive past slower post players…gets great position in the post, and has excellent footwork… A sound passer… Solid defensively and gives great effort He's tall. 6'10 with long arms and very quick for big man…crafty player who knows his strengths and plays to them. Excellent athlete with very good quickness and explosiveness. Has a great feel for the game. Weaknesses: Not strong enough and can be overpowered down low … Really must focus on expanding his range ... Has some moves on the block, but not a real threat offensively… He can block shots, but not as great at it, and you'd expect with his height/length and leaping ability that he would swat more."
he would be a great steal in the early second round as for the rockets... I really think they are going PG or wing (SF/SG) - unless someone who is NBA ready(read: 3-4 yr college PF), like Ike or Semian falls to 24.
I watched Lee play in high school here in St. Louis and followed him closely through college. I always thought that he was very versitile. He is a very level headed young man as well, smart, tough, and will get the most out of his ability. He will be a steal in the early second round for a lucky team.
I agree-- I went to UF while he was still playing and got to see him play a LOT! He is very versatile, and he shoots great from either hand. He has some major hops, a great dunker, and a pretty good rebounder. Another thing I like about him is that he is a really hard worker, and he's very coachable. His freshman year he was an atrocious free throw shooter, and he worked on it and worked on it until he had a great FT percentage by the time his senior year came around. Chad Ford wrote in ESPN Insider that David Lee played himself into the 1st round after his performance in the Chicago pre-draft camp so he would be a BIG steal in the 2nd round.
In the one game I saw that on TV from that camp, David Lee looked damn good. I'd try to get that guy.
Probably not... Malickmysack is stinking pretty bad right now, so I doubt Lee would want to get near his jockstrap....
It's amazing how every time Malick Badiane is mentioned, Ill-Skillz appears to make derogatory remarks about him. It's almost as though he has something personal against the Bad man. Was it your girlfriend or your sister?
I see David Lee as a shorter Horry. Good passer, descent shooter, great ability to do a bunch of stuff for us a team. If we could get him somehow without giving up too much I think he could be a key cog. He is no the saviour of the team but he totally comes off as a get it done type guy. Fierguard
I thought of exactly the same, except for the shooter part. None of his scouting reports say that he can do anything but hit an occasional open 18 footer. But he's a lanky athlete that should be able to guard both forward positions. I wouldn't spend our #24 on him, but if we grab a 2nd rounder, he would be a good pickup.
i think lee will become a solid pro but nothing more than a 15-20 minute pg role player. the rockets need a PF who provides a little bit more size or strength on the block to defend and rebound. i like his offense but not his rebounding or defense enough.
Chad Ford after Chicago Workouts Stock Up: David Lee -- Athletically, he tested as the top power forward in the draft. His lane agility scores are what really stand out. Lee has very quick feet, which will really help him defensively in the pros. Combine that with his strong play in Chicago and Lee seems like he's another step closer to securing a spot in the first round.
Look dude, it's amazing how weak that crap you wrote was. Leave my family out of your rant. My sister passed away a few years ago and there is no need to drag her in one of your lame ass attempts at insulting me. I have not insulted you thus far, so I don't know where that crap came from. This is thread about David Lee and the other poster brought Malickmytesticle in to run down Lee. Lee will go higher in the draft than Badiane did and he won't spend a few years in Europe rotting on the end of the bench The Badiane worshippers are amazing. They guy hasn't done squat and thread after thread is opened about the guy possibly being the answer at PF for the Rockets. He's not even the answer on the friggin team he's on now.....
