That was one of the most unbelievable sports sequences I've ever witnessed. I've seen Horry do it time after time late in games, so the late three in itself wasn't too surprising. But the way he did it time after time... 21 points in essentially a quarter-and-a-half... burying threes with Wallace in his face... getting multiple offensive rebounds and putbacks... faking the three and taking it to the basket and finishing... etc. He had his typical big shot, but this was more than that... this was a complete taking over of the game by a 34-year-old reserve with a bum shoulder and "supposedly" on his last legs. Amazing. One of the most legendary performances that I've seen in all my years of watching Finals basketball.
Horry isn't just good under pressure.... he needs the pressure to be good. Its quite a strange phenominon, and its one that will keep him out of the hall of fame (there have been several other "big shot" players, w/ rings, that won't ever sniff the hall... its just one of those things). Frankly, I think Horry would suck in a pick up game... but if you put $50,000 on the line, he'd be the greatest player ever.
here here! I was going crazy for horry in the last quarter and into the OT. in my eyes horry will always be a rocket, this guy just keeps adding onto his legacy. he needs to be in the HOF or the nba needs to create a Great Role Player of All Time award just for him
At this point, most definitely. Ginobili has dissapeared enough the last 3 games to where he shouldn't be in the running anymore. Duncan has been good/consistent in their wins... but he was just so bad at the end of game 5, the voters have to keep that in mind. If Horry has a decent game 6, and the Spurs win, he's getting MVP.
I was just happy it was a close game, but what Horry did was just unbelievable... no matter how many times you see him do it. The Put-back was a suprise with how low the rebound was.... His 3s was expected, I just didn't expect him to take a couple of them considering how a miss could've ended the game and there was time left. The dunk... he showed that he really wanted it. His eyes were so wide open it wasn't even funny. You could tell he was in huge pain before he shot that FT too. I was worried that the shoulder would hurt him and that he was just a decoy on that last shot. I actually didn't think he could shoot with the way he was slumping with that shoulder. That 3... I've seen it so many times... same spot, different jersey, same results (almost all of the time...) I don't know if he's HOF material, but I certainly wouldn't mind based on some of the names that's enshrined lately. Same shot... still unbelievable that he would do it again!
Yeah, as long as Horry scores 15+ points or has a few more clutch plays the rest of the games he should definately be considered. Like someone said, he deserves some kind of reward if hes not goin to get into the HOF.
The greatest mistake we ever did was not sign Robert Horry when he left LA. I'd take Robert Horry over 1 million Juwan Howards. Imagine all those bricks our forwards threw up in the Dallas Series. Horry would have hit 200 for 201!
Robert Horry is the most clutch player in the history of the NBA. 1st ballot hall of famer. NBA Finals MVP! Big Shot Bob!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tim Duncan was hillarious in the post game press conference talking about "Big Shot Bob" just hanging out all season, not showing up, until they played a big game.
Money Shot Bob definitely belongs in the Hall of Fame. I love that TD just said in the press conference what everyone in Houston has known for the last decade. "Just hangs out until the 4th quarter or a big game". Nice.
Robert is pretty clutch, dont get me wrong, but seriously we could have drafted Harold Minor instead. Not quite a Sam Bowie pick, but still pretty bad.
You know if you put some clutch players like Robert Horry, Sam Cassell, Vernon Maxwell around a great center, you can win a championship.
