I'm already a member of Avis Preferred Service, Hertz #1 Club, and National Emerald Club. I've been using mostly Avis but they don't seem to have the free rental program like the other 2 where I rent so many times and I get a free rental coupon. I want to use National more but they don't have as many locations as the other 2. Hertz seems more expensive then other 2, even with membership.

Just seeing what other people have and if some are better then others at benefits, perks, discounts, etc. I know about the benefit of going straight to your car, free upgrade to the next size car, and using your rental towards a frequent flyer program. But I don't know if I'm really maximizing my memberships or if there are better out there.

And, please, no jokes about needing a "ride" ride.

Perks shmerks. I use Hotwire and Priceline if I can do so. If your dates are definite and there's no real chance of cancelation, it's the best way to go. I've gotten $35/day cars for $18/day from Hotwire and $120-$150/night rooms for around $40/night on Priceline.

I know about priceline but my plans change alot of times and planning ahead doesn't work for me. Also, I travel on business mostly so it's going to be expensed in the end, so I guess discount is not that important as other benefits but like a good corporate employee I try to keep costs down (or make it appear so). I have membership to a bunch of hotel programs also, just wondering if anyone finds these membership programs useful, especially for the business travelers.

Is Hertz #1 Club the same as Hertz Gold Club? I used to be in the Gold Club but let my membership expired; I am now back to being just a regular Hertz member. I never saw the big advantages of regular Hertz compared to Hertz Gold. And like you, the only time I use Hertz is on business any way.

Gold Club is actually a tier above #1 Club, more perks as I understand. What added perks, I haven't figured out yet, I just want to see the different ways I can apply all my business traveling to maybe use for my personal stuff.
