In a slow period I came across this and decided to pass it on:

Kurt Thomas, masquerading last season as the Knicks center, must be jealous. He privately desired a trade to his home state, as he's talked longingly about his only goal of winning a title. He phoned Mohammed a few days ago.

"When I talked to him, he was congratulating me," Mohammed said. "He said go out there and take advantage of the situation. Everyone wants to be in the Finals."

3 years @ ~ 22m...he'll be 33 in October. I'd like to stay away from paying $8m to 35 year olds. Especially since Juwan's contract is 1 year longer than Thomas's.

The thought of Thomas chasing around Nowitski and KG and Duncan in transition doesn't excite me. I'm optimistic they'll be better options available (draft, free agency, trades).

I think Kurt would be a good addition to the team, but if I got him I would then want to move Howard. Like GATER, I dont like the idea of having 2 PFs that are old and making a ton of money.

I agree. Plus, if a 4 were the dratee then JHo or KT would be good to learn from, then trasnsition to the starting role.

He's the perfect type of PF for our system. I'd take him and live with the contract. Beats the pants off of paying Mo.

I would do the following trade

    Mooch & Spoon & Baker

    for

    Kurt Thomas.

He's from DFW, so he probably wants the Mavs.

Why would the Mavs need a PF?

Plus w/ their payroll, I don't think they could afford Thomas.

    See Dirk's playoff performance?

Though, I guess a move to the three wouldn't really help, since he was basically shut down by a 2/3.

While I can see the advantages of Kurt's defense and rebounding,I still don't see him as being what we need...esp. for the price. The Rockets need the 4 to play above the rim...Give me a guy with height, reach, and athleticism.
I agree we need a banger, but those can be had for less money.

Given the drift of the article, when he says 'Texas' I think he means 'San Antonio,' as in the team favored to come out of the Western Conference and win the championship this year. That it is in Texas is probably just a happy coincidence.

I could see the Rox making a deal for KT, but we'd have to move JH. Having Howard and Thomas would further kill our cap situation.

I think Mavs may get Kurt THomas.
    I don't think Spurs will.

Rockets? I really hope we get Stromile, Marshall, or SAR..or draft a PF.

But I'd love to get Thomas, but that would probably mean JH gone. And I like Juwan.

I wish we could have a young Antonio Davis..:p a young Hakeem :p

Never said the Mavs needed anything. I just said he (Thomas) probably would prefer to go there because it's his hometown.

If there is anyway we can get kurt thomas on our team we should do it! Get rid of JHo in a package and get us a player that actually rebounds. He's played for gundy before and I think he'd love to play with him again.

Ahh yes,but can he do that in the West?I see him more as a role player on a title team...and at 3yrs.22mil. we can pick up someone much cheaper to take out the trash.
