    Great, Mo's back [IMG]

Thanks Cat for shooting him down.
BTW, Verse, so far you are sitting pretty if DA leaves without a sign and trade, but you never know what could happen.

Thanx Stevie and Cat!! Glad i could be of service...

Really what can YOU say now that you didn't read and understand NOTHING in this thread from myself or Verse. Even faced with all the things that we said WOULD happen and WOULD NOT happen, you still feel the need to be blind. So you have earned a RECAP...

Back on June 30 at 12:22am i posted saying that Samaki Walker would sign with the Lakers, and that the Spurs would not sign any free agent worth anything...

June 30 4:21am i posted saying that Chris Carrawell the Duke 1st rounder of the Spurs (which could play 3) since he is STILL getting paid by the Spurs, should be in camp for a workout along with the OVERPAID Jaren Jackson. You paying'em...may as well play they ass!!

You know i still don't care how many points that Tony Parker scores, because if he CAN'T play the 2, 3, 4 , or 5 you STILL don't need him. So let's say it all at once...

The Spurs still need a starting 3, back up 4, and a back up 5. You won't have the 2nd scorer on the team, because he's...GREEDY!! You pissed off Dave, so he signs for 2 years so his contract comes up with Tim Duncan and Antonio Daniels. Nobody talks about the Spurs NOT signing ANY free agents, i mean Eddie Robinson signed with the Bulls!! We said CWebb would not sign, and you laughed...
Now the only thing y'all can say is ..."the free agent season isn't over yet"

You know let's say this for what it is...
Y'all don't want me to be RIGHT, and you don't want to be WRONG...

The Spurs pulled their offer off the table for both Eddie Robinson and Webber. And guess what? Now the Spurs are talking about getting Gary Payton, according to the Express News. Man do they suck.

P.S.-- The game lasts 4 quarters, not a half. With a ton of trades still out there, nobody is right yet... and by the way, I consider Steve Smith as good or a better player than Derek Anderson, and that offer is on the table.

BTW, Derek settled for less money to go to the Blazers.

the spurs handling of the DA situation was - as predicted - horrendous.

and to say that an aging, slow, non-creating Steve Smith is BETTER OR EQUAL TO DA IS PREPOSTEROUS.

The Cat are you serious, or are you just trying to see the glass as 1/2 full?

and don't try to make it sound like the spurs didn't want webber or robinson. had those players been stupid enough to play for a 2nd rate organization that has a reputation for mistreating players, the spurs would have gladly taken them.

now they're talking about gary payton?

their best bet is gonna be steve smith - IF DA ALLOWS THEM TO S&T HIM. and that would be an absolute steal for portland. please tell me how steve smith is as good as DA.

If I were starting an NBA team, I might take Smith over Anderson. His knees aren't near as bad as people make them out to be. He has more experience, is a better shooter, can create his own shot better, and doesn't choke when it comes to the playoffs. If the Spurs sign and trade Derek Anderson for Smith and sign someone such as Stephen Jackson, Bruce Bowen, etc. you can put me on record as saying the Spurs will have a better record next year than this year, and they will still be the top seed.

    Verse,

It's funny how sources said the Spurs pulled their offer off the table for Robinson, and then a day later he commits to Chicago. His options had run out.

Webber's "camp" also called the Spurs almost in a desperation type attempt when they read about Robinson being resigned, knowing that they probably wouldn't have enough money for him left over. The reason they couldn't get Webber is because dumb management stuck with Robinson, not because he didn't want to play there.

I don't think that Steve Smith can create better than Derek, but I do think that Steve is the better shooter, and is a whole lot better in clutch situations.

It's possible that the Spurs, if they get the right pieces, could have a better record than last year. If I were on the Spurs, I would be pissed and motivated as hell after getting their butts kicked by LA.

can create his own shot better [IMG] what??

how can you admit that he has bad knees - though not as bad as some think - then say he can create his shot better than a guard who does nothing but penetrate and hit the open j???

having more experience means nothing. who would you rather have right now kobe or pippen? pippen has more experience. kobe has more talent.

    better shooter?

    3 point shooting:

    Derek Anderson: 40%
    Steve Smith: 34%

steve's overall % was higher (not by much), but i'm sure you see how that can be misleading. stats aside, DA's 3 point shot is great. it is so great that you have to respect him and go cover him. just like cuttino mobley, when you do go out there it's lights out. he's blowing right by you and probably going to dunk on your big man. DA is widely considered one of the most athletic guards in the league. you're saying steve smith can create his shot better? [IMG]

    doesn't choke....

    Game 1 vs. La:

    40 minutes
    3-8 from the floor
    1-4 from 3 pt
    10 points

    Game 2 vs. La:

    40 minutes
    5-10 from the floor
    0-2 from 3 pt
    16 points

    Game 3 vs. La:

    42 minutes
    8-16 from the floor
    3-5 from 3 pt
    25 points

ok, one bad game (1), one decent game (2), and one good game (3) when the series was basically over. oh yea, he stepped up BIG TIME [IMG]

da has only had one year of postseason experience, but let's look at it anyway.

    Game 1 vs. Minn:

    36 minutes
    4-13 from the floor
    2-4 from 3 point
    12 points

    Game 2 vs. Minn:

    29 minutes
    5-14 from the floor
    2-5 from 3 point
    12 points

    Game 3 vs. Minn:

    42 minutes
    6-16 from the floor
    1-6 from 3 point
    16 points

    Game 4 vs. Minn:

    29 minutes
    0-4 from the floor
    0-0 from 3 point
    4 points.

now, DA had a bad series against minnesota - granted. but he did enough to help the spurs big men out. the 1st 2 games he stretched the D out with his shooting. the last game, antonio got considerable minutes at the 2.

regardless of his poor showing in his ONLY playoffs, i can't believe you'd call him a choker. isn't it YOU who's always asking people to "BE PATIENT" and not judge players after a short amount of time????

    see: collier, jason
    see: langhi, dan
    see: taylor, mo

yet, you'll label DA after one post season?? c'mon, gimme some consistency.

so you'd take a 32 year old steve smith over a 27 year old anderson?

    *****************************************************

and if you think bruce bowen is a quality starting 3, with antonio daniels or *yikes* stephen jackson at the 2, you're really off-base.

the spurs need players that can both stretch the defense and that can create their own shot. bowen is NOT a great shooter, and is definitely not an offensive creator from the perimeter. stephen jackson, in nj, was terrible. he got 22 minutes per game, shot .335 from 3 point range, and .425 overall. 8.2 points per game on a TERRIBLE new jersey team. 1.8 assists per game from someone you want to create on the spurs.

not a good idea. this is what is known as "taking what's left." not "getting what you want."

if you want to place a bet on the spurs record next season PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

i'd bet ANYTHING that the spurs will be worse next year. payton or not. smith or not. they will be worse.

they didn't get webber because he didn't want to go there. plain and simple.

all we have to do is apply logic here. if cwebber wants to play for you...you will FIND a way to fit him in.

You really think that IF(I know it's a big if) the Spurs acquire Payton and get Steve Smith, they will be worse?!?!? How can you explain that? You know they won't give up Duncan or Robinson, so their starters would basically look like this:

    C: Robinson
    PF: Duncan
    SF: Bowen?
    SG: Smith
    PG: Payton

That looks like a 60 win team to me...

The Spurs' draft pick, Tony Parker, just went off for 29 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, and 4 steals at the RMR last night. Granted, it's summerleague action, but the team feels great about his potential.

Definitely not "AJ jr", this kid is more skilled.
