I got this in my email today:

Please go to http://www.thehungersite.com and click on "Donate Free Food". The sponsors; Spiegel, The Earth Shop, Dell Computers, Host Exchange Students, Perfumania.com, VISA, and Amazon.com will donate 1.0 cup(s) of staple food to a hungry person.

Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger in the world (24,000 each day). 75%of these are children.

Remember, the sponsors donate the free meal. This doesn't cost you anything except a minute of your time.

After you've clicked on the "Donate Free Food" button on this site, could you please forward this email to your friends? This way, others can also give meals through these generous sponsors.

P.S. You are allowed to visit "The Hunger Site" once each day and the sponsors will continue to honor each "click" with a free meal to a hungry person.

The site has a few question marks. When it originally started, it was very successful and highly recommended. We did some advertising with them and got great results -- better than anywhere else we had advertised at the time. The goodwill you generate is incredible. The best part is that we wrote our check directly to the UN Hunger Program, so there was no chance of fraud or anything like that.

More recently, Hungersite was taken over (?) by a company called GreaterGood.com (This could be the same people -- I have no idea). I believe the Hungersite started taking money from sponsors directly, and the UN Hunger Program broke their affiliation with them because of concerns of late and non-payments. We were emailed by the UN people about this problem.

They now work with some other charities, but I don't have any first-hand knowledge of how it works anymore.

Forgot to include that we still supports the site within our games and such (offering rewards for visiting them). Overall, we haven't seen anything to indicate any real problems, but I just wanted to let you know our experience with it.

Thanks, TraJ for pointing this one out.

Does anyone know more about the site than they tell you on the site? I hate to be suspicious and cynical, but it almost seems too good to be true... I just hope it is [IMG].
