This was posted a couple of months ago, but I can't find it.

What are the codes to get different symbol dohickeys?

For example, Chance was able to get the code for a cross symbol. I'm looking for a specific accounting symbol.

All I know is this site: http://www.typeart.com/special_characters.asp

But html codes might be different. I'm not sure...

Nope. It wasn't on there. I'm looking for the legal symbol for "Section". It looks like an S with a hole in it.

If you're not talking about writing in html....

Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Character Map

Set the Font to whichever you desire. Scroll down and double-click on the character you're looking for. Click 'copy' and it will be copied to the Windows clipboard for you to paste into your document.

If you want to type the character often, without having to copy-paste, do this:

In character map, click once on the character you're looking for. At the bottom-right corner of the window, you may see some text that begins with the word, "Keystroke". For you, Fatty, it will say, "Keystroke: Alt+0167". Go to whatever program you're typing in (possibly MS Word). On your computer keyboard hold down the alt key and USING THE KEYPAD, sequentially type 0 1 6 7. Then let go of alt. (note - you must use the keypad numbers - not the numbers across the top of your keyboard).

    That is the one! Thanks!

But I'm always looking for these. I've been looking also for footnote symbols.

I just assumed that there would be a place where you could get them all?

    Does anyone know?

That works great. Thanks! But what about footnotes? Like the "1" "2" "3" you'll see indented above certain sentences?

That's not a special character - it's known as "superscript". If you're in MS Word, hit Shift-CTRL-+ to toggle superscript on and off.

Or, you can use subscript by doing CTRL-+

Go to the next BBS function. I'll get a pitcher.

No, I didn't go. This BBS needs at least a weeks notice.

Hmm. Somehow I read this thread title as "Weird Font Chodes." I'm a bit disappointed.

I think that officially qualifies you as a weird font chode.

Sadly, I think I'm one, too.

Would that make us weird font chodes or weird font choda? I've been out of junior high too long to recall the proper plural form...
