Sorry... this isn't a contest, I'm just trying to remember the name of a song from the 70s that has incredible horns before the music starts. Remember it? Thanks. j/k. It kinda goes: ba-bom bom bada bommmmmmmmm ba-bom bom bada bommmmmmmmm ba-bom bom bada bommmmmmmmm bommmmmmmmm bommmmmmmmm ba-bom bom bada bommmmmmmmm (really helpful, eh ) The singer comes on relaxed and (I can't remember most of the words) keeps saying "Forget About Every-thing". I would think that were the song name, but alas... it doesn't seem to be... Thanks in advance. The "fogey of the day" award will go out to the person that gets this first. ------------------ git it tag, git it! [This message has been edited by Achebe (edited March 11, 2001).]

That's "Baker Street," by Gerry Rafferty. Lisa played it once on The Simpsons. [This message has been edited by Special Patrol Group (edited March 11, 2001).]

Achebe Now that SPG pointed out the song, your textual description of it was excellently written. ------------------
Winding your way down on Baker Street Light in your head and dead on your feet Well another crazy day, you’ll drink the night away And forget about everything. This city desert makes you feel so cold It’s got so many people but it’s got no soul And it’s taken you so long to find out you were wrong When you thought it held everything. You used to think that it was so easy, You used to say that it was so easy But you’re tryin’, you’re tryin’ now. Another year and then you’d be happy Just one more year and then you’d be happy But you’re cryin’, you’re cryin’ now. Way down the street there’s a light in his place He opens the door, he’s got that look on his face And he asks you where you’ve been, you tell him who you’ve seen And you talk about anything. He’s got this dream about buyin’ some land He’s gonna give up the booze and the one night stands And then he’ll settle down, it’s a quiet little town And forget about everything. But you know he’ll always keep movin’ You know he’s never gonna stop movin’ Cause he’s rollin’, he’s the rollin’ stone. And when you wake up it’s a new morning The sun is shining, it’s a new morning But you’re going, you’re going home. ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
The Foo Fighters also do a good version of this song ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
Man, I remember that song... but it was from the 70's? Or did somebody else re-make it in the 80's? ------------------ "I was arrested for sexual assault involving an elderly man and I was out in 35 minutes." -- Achebe - programmer by day, geriatric ass grabber by night. As(s?) a side note, he did state he was cleared of charges.
Thanks guys, I'm definitely at peace now. This song rocks. My wife disagrees unfortunately. ------------------ git it tag, git it!
Raferty actually had 2 hits in the late 70's. Baker Street and Right Down the Line. ------------------ fArt don't pay the rent.
Thanks, but I was only 7 when it came out. It's just one of those songs that got so much airplay, you can't help but remember it. It's stuck in my head somewhere near Another Brick in the Wall Part II and The Devil Went Down to Georgia.
