I just received an email from "paypal@secure-logins.com" asking me to update my billing information. It says to update within 24 hours or my account will be suspended. Do NOT click on this email! I heard that if you click on their link, they install some program on your computer that can record your keystrokes. Any one gotten these emails before? How would I report this?
I got an email before from paypal saying that someone has been added to my account. Well I didn't add anyone or any other email to my account so I forward it to Spoofs to see if it was real. They replied saying it was indeed a fake email. Well I got curious for some reason and decided to add someone to my paypal account. I received an email saying the exact same thing as before and so I forward it to Spoofs just to check, even though I new this one was real. They replied saying that this too was a fake email and they did not send it. So they don't know what they are doing at spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com. Got Em, I've gotten the exact same email before too.
Well, when you keep getting these emails and you don't even have a paypal account, you know something's up. (Though I need to get a paypal account because I'm way overdue to contribute to the bbs... actually what's holding me back is fear of paypal.) Just get rid of the emails, block them, and/or report them to your service provider.
on most of the help pages of that and ebay they state that in their emails they use your real name in messages...not Paypal user etc etc.
Look at the headers for the email message. These will tell you how the message was sent. If it was from a PAYPAL server, then it will say something to the likes of: Received: from blah blah. paypal . com (IP_address) by your_email_server. blah . com with SMTP (Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service Version 5.5.2657.72) id GENERATED_ID; Mon, 13 Jun 2005 16:19:44 -0500 Received: from blah . paypal .com (blah . paypal .com [ipaddress]) If you see something suspicious on those headers, send it to the junk. Most web-based emailers allow you to see the headers, Outlook users can right-click on the message and select Options.
If I ever get anything unsolicited from anyone (even companies I do business with), I delete it. I'm not sure why anyone would ever open an unsolicited email from anyone EVAR!
They must of done a mass spam last night cause I had the same one in my mail this morning. Look at the Address Bar. The one I got look exactly like PayPal site as well. The only difference was that the address bar showed http://www.langleychurch.org/bbs/log.htm. When I reported it I just got the form letter. No action from them yet.
I'm always getting those things, I delete them all the time. I reported it to Paypal but it didn't stop so I just don't bother anymore. Never fill any personal info on a link from a e-mail
