I second this, but the TC by my work is always slow.. I can go to lunch at 11 or 2 and I get the same SLOW ass service..
The only correct answer is Dairy Queen. I have never been to the place (and I grew up by one and ate there at least once a week), even when was the only person in line, when I didn't have to pull around out front and wait on my food for like 15 minutes. Sonic isn't meant to be fast..it's a drive-in.
I don't mind waiting for Whataburger either since their burgers are superior to any other "fast food" burger. What hacks me off is when they have your drink just sitting there getting all watered down while they're making your burger.
I must be lucky....the Sonics I go to arent that bad...but then again...Im not the real impatient sort....if it takes over 5 minutes to get to me, I dont mind...as long as it is fresh and hot. the SOnic in Crosby is especially good... and the Dairy Queen in Baytown is pretty good...maybe once in every five times I go there, do I have to pull forward and wait for a order...and that is normally cause both my kid and wife order fried stuff.. The guy that runs it is a real hardass about good service...I've heard that he has zero patience with slow employees..which of course is a good thing for us customers. If you want fast precooked food...then keep going to places that get your food to you quick(McDs, BK, Jack)....most of the time if it takes more than a few minutes to get to you, that means they are actually cooking it when you order it...which I will take everytime over stuff pulled out from under a heatlamp.
I could not stop myself from laughing because many of those employees on the UH campus act like they are doing you a favor when they supposed to be doing their job, AT-TI-TUDE. And it doesn't matter, whether eating at the Towers, the Quads, the UC, or even the UC Underground, alot of those employees are just plain mean. Probably the nicest service that I found was at Harlon's bar-b-q in the UC basement, maybe because they serve alcohol there. Oh.. and as far as the slowest "Fastfood place," to me it is ANY drivethru that you find yourself going to at 2 in the morning Customer: Yes I would like a large sprite. Foodservice rep: Just pull around front and we'll bring it out to you. (meanwhile everyone behind you in line isn't asked to pull around to the front and they seem to make it through the line in clockwork fashion) I am exaggerating, but it always feels like that...
Good, then maybe you can answer this for me. Many of the Sonics in town now have a drive through, along with the traditional car hop stations. Do people in the drive through get priority over the others? I didn't know if it was policy to deliver to the drive through customers sooner, because it is assumed they are in more of a hurry. It seems I always get my food much quicker in the drive through so I was just wondering.
The Sonic that I work at doesn't have a drive thru, but I do have some knowledge of a larger Sonic close by (Branson, MO). There are actually 2 kitchens and orders are deligated through the POS for load balancing to ensure equal times. But to your question there is no priority put on either or, but the reason drive thru is faster is probably for the reason I listed above about car hops... it may be easy and fast to deliver food, but time adds up quickly. With a drive thru you have a queue based system that you can't get your food before the person in front of you (which can cause delays), but may typically seem faster. On the actual speeds compared I'm not sure, but the main reason for the delay I feel is the carhop situation. Both are true with most Sonics (and fast food). Fruit (cherries, lemons, and limes) are left out for drinks, but should be covered. The items should be held at under 40 degrees, but are rarely ever. Fries and tots are often picked through at a lot of restraunts. But if you want advise to stay away from... Ice cream.... few stores (to my knowledge) properly clean (or even know how to clean) their ice cream machines, leaving for mold and bacteria to grow (which with a dairy-based product). The cabinet that holds the ice cream mix is often above temparature leaving to milk spoiling and still being served. Slushes... once again the machine is never cleaned and required (most managers don't even know to or how to clean it) If you get anything with chicken (Chicken strips, breaded chicken, popcorn chicken [regional item, I think]) in under 4 minutes the chances are that you have recieved chicken that has been kept up (not to order). Not necessarily a bad thing. With all that said it is probably common trends for all fast food, so it doesn't even both me anymore when I eat anywhere.
Popeyes in DC is slow if you order a sandwhich. They take like 10 minutes to make it. We don't have much fast food. I don't even think I've seen a Taco Bell or Burger King yet.
The sonic near my house... Had a regular drive thru.. except now you don't use the drive thru window anymore. You order back at the menu like any other drive thru.. but you drive like 5-10 feet past the old drive thru window.. then someone walks out to your car to bring you food and get your money.. no idea why
I can't believe so many people dig Sonic. I'll have to give it a try. Personally, I'm all about Whataburger. I ate there Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Of course, all 3 times it was after midnight.
