Student tells of 'racist' Crowe June 08, 2005 AUSTRALIAN actor Russell Crowe allegedly hurled racist abuse at a Thai student after being upset about a pie he was served at a landmark Sydney eatery. The female student, 24, said the incident took place while she was working at Harry's Cafe de Wheels last October. Crowe didn't like the beef pie he had ordered and became abusive, she said. "(He was) very abusive, aggressive," the student told Channel 7. When Crowe was asked to leave, he allegedly told the student: "Do you know who I am? "You should know this is not your country." When asked what point Crowe was trying to make, the student said: "To go home." The Oscar-winning actor was arrested in New York on Monday, and was charged with assault after allegedly hurling a telephone at a hotel employee. He was charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and faces up to seven years in jail. ************ I knew he was a pompous and abusive guy, but I didn't know this overrated actor was a racist.
shat, man. this guy has a bad public display track record. everybody can't be wrong... can they? two-thumbs down... way down.
We knew he had an anger management problem, but it just gets worse and worse. Has he usually been drinking when he does this stuff? Or is he just that much of a jerk? (or both?)
This is pretty damn ironic. Russell Crowe's first big movie was his leading role in 'Romper Stomper'. For those who have not seen it, Russell's character in this movie worships Hitler more than I can possibly convey through words in this post. Russell played the lead skinhead role so well that audiences and critics far and wide applauded his acting performance. But then again, maybe he wasn't really acting
Weird. I just got through watching Gladiator for the first time... I mean like 5 minutes ago. Then I come read this... lol. Anyway, I'm not much of a movie watcher, but this movie has got to be among my favorites of all time. His acting ability is undeniable. I don't know about all the racist rumors, but damn can the man act...
Gladiator is a great movie. It's the only movie I'll watch with Russell Crowe in it. Eversince A Beautiful Mind, the guy's been shooting for "oscar roles" instead of just doing films that, although not might be oscar worthy upfront, might stretch his acting abilities a bit.
i saw him on conan the other day talking about the whole phone thing. he seemed like a cool guy but of course that's not exactly a view into his private behavior. anyways his attitude aside, he's a brilliant actor and among my favorites currently. go see cinderalla man if you haven't. as for the whole chasing oscar roles, that may be, but i think he's selected a broad enough range of characters to show and improve his ability. he's not playing the same guy over and over.
if he's not playing an against-the-ropes underdog fighter/hero whose will propels him to the top(Gladiator, Cinderella Man), he's playing a disturbed guy/hero (A Beautiful Mind). Not since Virtuosity (and maybe LA confidential?) has he ever done anything out of character. Try playing the bad guy for once...that's the type he's born to play.
The only problem I have had with Crowe's acting was in "A Beautiful Mind." We are actually supposed to believe that the 40-something Crowe is a 20-year old university student??? That ruined the movie for me. Nobody ever seems to mention that, either.
I heard this movie is a favorite of many racist group or people. im just wondering why it is so like? did he become like edward norton on american history x where he bacame reform?
HAHA, I love the video of him walking out of the building in cuffs to the police car... it looks like a red carpet event, they have that small half fence on both sides of the walkway while eveyone on both sides is reporter or photographer.. the look on his face was great, I love when people who think they are better than others get OWNED!!
Definitely... I also thought he was pretty damn good in Virtuosity and The Quick and the Dead. fade....Beautiful Mind was in 2001, and Crowe is just 41 this year...not quite 40-somethiing back then
