I think Stoudamire would be an excellent addition. If we could acquire him without using the MLE and then use the MLE on Antonio Daniels, the Rockets backcourt situation would look so much better than it does now.

Mcgrady/Daniels/Stoudamire would be a very good perimeter attack. It gives the Rockets 3 players on the floor that can all play the role of point guard/playmaker/floor general. The more ballhandlers on the floor, the better. No more of this Mcgrady handling the ball 99% of the time while the guards park themselves out at the 3-point line.

Just watching the Spurs/Pistons game last night made me realize just how beneficial it is to have penetrators on the floor. Parker and Ginobili were just attacking the basket again and again and again, causing complete havoc to the Detroit defense. I could easily see Stoudamire (and Daniels) doing that here.

Weren't Ginobili, Parker and Duncan incredible against a very strong defense.

I certainly agree. I think the Spurs are a good model to imitate as I think JVG coaches like they play.

I started a thread about Stoudamire couple weeks back, I think he would be a nice addition to the team. A reliable 3rd scoring option.

Stoudamire is a playmaker, he is a good shooter and is capable of driving in much better than Sura/Wesley. He is coming off his max deal so hopefully he won't be looking for the money, but then again, it is the NBA.

i think stoudamire would be a good addition...I think Minnesota will also make a push for him. Cassel and Spreewell most likely will not be there, so they need someone to give the ball to KG, rather than shoot happy Troy Hudson.

He would be exactly our Jason Terry type of point guard: more of a scorer, less of a passer (but more of a passer than Terry for sure), undersized, but an excellent shooter (although a bit streaky).

I like him, but only for the right price. I think if we have him and James and Sura and Barry that would be a half-decent backcourt rotation to have.

Damon would be a good addition if we could get him for cheap. He's a guard who knows when to shoot and when to pass. He wouldn't mind taking the third scoring option. The Rockets should definitely go after the guy, and his age would please JVG ;) .

So how much of a defensive liability is Damon in you guys' minds? Just about anyone can get a shot off against him.

Sounds like Mike James, only shorter and with a worse 3 pt shot.

If Van Gundy can turn Francis into a passable defender, he can do the same for Stoudamire. The most important thing for our guards is to be able to stay in front of their man and Stoudamire still has enough speed and quickness to do that.

JVG can't make Stoudamire five inches taller.

I'm not totally against getting Damon. I don't think he's really a troublemaker, so much as just a pothead. He's actually a pretty decent person, by all accounts.

That said, I'd rather have Daniels or McInnis starting at the point. But I'd prefer Stoudamire over Brevin Knight, Speedy Claxton, NVE, Derek Fisher, or Earl Watson.

Huge defensive liability. You can expect more of the PG abuse we saw against Dallas when Mike James wasn't in the game "D"ing up against Terry.

If the Rockets bring in another PG, he needs height.

Why are some people saying that we need more height at the PG? We need height at the SG where Wesley had a hard time with Stackhouse. At the PG we need somebody with good lateral mobility, and the ability to fight through screens. I wouldn't mind Damon, he's got a good shot and he passes better than James. He wouldn't be my first choice, but he would be in the mix if we trade Sura or James.

Daniels would be the top target IMO, but below him you have a crowd of Stoudamire, Mcginnis, Knight, D.Jones who are all about the same level, to me at least.

I agree with everybody. I want Stoudamire..I like him..but only if he doens't ask for a big contract. A Jimmy Jackson like or Ryan Bowen or Scott Padgett like contract.

I think I want Antonio Daniels the most, but maybe Damon 2nd.

And yeah Damon has done well even at 5-10..and we should be fine as long as we have players who are relatively tall to make it up..Yao Ming :p

    Good profile btw thanks Clutch

Damon is a better passer than Daniels and can shoot the 3 point shot as well but his size is a liability on defense. I wouldn't mind having him on the team for a 2 year contract with a possible 3rd year team option.
