If you guys really want to know what cars he drives, I have not seen him or his brother in an H3 He has at least 2, maybe 3 s500s. He used to at least, I doubt he has that many now. He had a Rolls Royce (forgot which model) and also I have seen him and his brother drive the G wagon. (I live right 5-6 houses down from him)
wakkoman, is that SugaryLand? A dentist I know lives a few homes down from Carlos Herrera (amigo!)'s house in SweetSugarLand. Met Hakeem here at the University where I work back in 2000. Came sponsored by the Islamic society for a talk of Muslim issues and stuff plaguing our society and just humanity overall. I got to Shake DREAM's hand. He signed my poster. I have it on my wall here in the office. Shaking The Man's hand made me realize he's REAL and a HUMAN. I can die happy. bamboozled - (adj.) - see David Robinson
i've also had a personal experience of hakeem which you guys have not had...I had the opportunity to sit in his car. The last time I sat, there was an uncle sitting in the front. Hakeem at that time was driving a 600SL, the biggest benz sedan there was. So my cousin and I had to sit in the back. My cousin got the passenger back, so I had to sit behind hakeem. It was a quite a difficult ride. He also ran a red light! ---Mubeen
That right there verifies that he is a true Houstonian Anyways, how did you get to ride with him? Or was he simply giving you a ride home after you washed his car?
Since we're all exchanging our personal Hakeem stories .. thought I'd chime in with my modest encounter. About three years ago, when Hakeem was playing for the Raptors, I was participating in a Muslim Basketball tournament here in Toronto which he and Mamadou N'diaye attended. During a session between games during maghrib prayers, I had the honour of praying next to the guy! We shook hands afterwards and he was as advertised - polite and humble. He did get a tad irritated though when people were mobbing him, but thats understandable. Later he signed my copy of his autobiography 'Living the Dream'. Indeed, the opportunity to meet the man that single-handedly got me hooked onto the Rockets was something that I can't forget. Azim da Dream
Hakeem sightings Hakeem sighting, I live here in San Antonio and the local news showed Hakeem at the Spurs practice facility today. He was showing Tim duncan some low post moves. He still looks to be in great shape. Maybe the Rockets could use a coach for Yao Ming. It weird to see Hakeem at the Spurs practice facility. How many times did he go to the Rockets practice facility to teach.
He just got in the country, and since the Rockets aren't playing anymore, you didn't see him there. I don't know, may be he has made a commitment to this "NBA legends" thing that has NBA greats tour around the country and attend NBA games. May be that's why he is in San Antonio. Either that or he went there to see his friends Horry and Drexler. And said hi to the Spurs players while he was at it of course. I wouldn't be surprised if Hakeem really likes Duncan, he seems to be high on the guy, as I am and probably most real NBA fans are. He is the torch-brearer, IMO, for Hakeem. The best big man in the game today and the most fundamentally sound.
