Technically all draft picks can be considered gamble. But I disagree somewhat in regards to this year's draft as it looks now. This is one of those rare drafts that early second round picks could be as good as mid to late first rounders. This is not just another year we must hit it big with the quality and depth of the players available to us. --------- I agree with baller4life315's take on this matter. If Taft (who I really do not like with any pick 20 and above) is available at #24, I will take him. He definitely has the physical talent - it is his mind that has always been in question.
I think hoping that JVG can motivate this guy is wishful thinking. JVG isn't known to be patient with rookies in general. All his actions as coach show that the guy has very little interest working with players who need a little more attention, i.e. (Eddie Griffin, Boki)
This is why I wish we still had Rudy T, he was a much better coach than JVG at dealing with players. Rudy with this cast of players would have been better than JVG, IMHO. DD
he has great talent and is definitely worth the #24 pick. but i don't even have to know people close to taft to know he has motivation issues. he's great one game and then doesn't show up the next. the kid could either be a great player or another kwame brown.
As an Arizona State alum I can honestly say Diogu is an awesome player. Guy works as hard as anyone, has some of the best low post moves i've seen from a college player in awhile, great strength, drew double and triple teams almost every time down, and this past ASU team had no outside shooting so they were just bogging the middle, and Ike has great range as he could nail the college 3pter. Only negative on Ike might be his conditioning and speed running the floor, but I don't see that being a problem in the NBA. Odds are he is not available at 24, I just can't see that good of a player falling that low. That would be unheard of for a player with the college accolades Ike received and Ike is the type of personality that make every team that passed on him pay (i.e. Rahsard Lewis). Also he's a Texas guy, from Garland a suburb of Dallas, so would be an excellent fit. I would love to see them trade for him. Go Rockets and Go Devils!
step away from the gizmondo and quit touching your keyboard. Hakeem motivated the players, Rudy road coattails.
