"we dont care what people say" im in the "kanye is cool" camp. his production is top notch, but i also like alot of his raps, lyrically clever and cool delivery). he has his own unique sound. for a debut, college dropout is pretty damn impressive. to put together a thematically cohesive album like that, talking about a very non-hip-hop subject (college). he got his shot, went for it and got a hit. more power to him. however, i think he runs the risk of going the pharrell route, where his style quickly becomes played out. i used to like pharrel's stuff (still love that first nerd album), but now the whole falsetto voice and synths is just so predictable. i like the sped up soul samples, but i would like to see him explore some different sounds. dont play it safe like pharrell has.
anyone who thinks a lady that looking for two shades of jackson and is not talking about janet from about a decade back has no rap game whatsoever
Common is an awesome rapper. "They ask me where hip hop is goin. It's Chica-goin." -- Common, Chi-City
Kanye is not overrated. His production is off the hook and the way he delivers his lyrics are awesome! He has very clever/thoughtful lyrics that flow very well with his beats. I like his stuff because it is inteligent unlike most of the rappers out there who sound like they belong in a special ed class b/c they can't put together a coherent flow. I actually heard this Mike Jones guy last night and he is horrrrrrrrrible, alot of these rappers nowadays just ramble and yell about nothing that makes sense. THey don't tell a story and put together any clever rhymes.
