Im only guilty of saying "man" and "dude" quite often. I especially love using Dude...it can be used in so many ways depending on how you say it.. .One of my peeves...people who will answer you with...Yea, right...or just....right?
Wary does not necessarily rhyme with Gary. It is closer to Horry and than Gary. Your point is well taken.
"axed" has got to be the worst of all the sayings. I refuse to hire anyone who says that. I dont mind "like" or "um's" cause lumberg says it.
The professor of my speech class actually counted the number of 'um' and 'eh' in each speech and then graded it accordingly.
"Ask" is really hard to pronounce for some african americans. There was a time when I had to pause and think of the word Mask before I tried ask. Weird.

The company's called DataCert. We provide electronic billing between law firms and corporate legal departments.
Not a very good reason when you can clearly say: "ASS". Do you say "ax" when doing your line of work? I am sure you get laughs from that alone.
I worked with a guy who always made excuses and blamed others... "but you axed me to..." "i did what you axed me" "you should have axed me" In my mind, I was always thinking ---- If I could axe you I would!
I work on a floor with 200 people of many races and nationalities and I have not heard "axed" or "assed" once in place of "asked"
People from the Carribean tend to say 'axed.' My parent's neighbour (who's as white as white can be) has a strong Jamaican accent. He says 'axed.'
I think he's right though that folks using the acceptable pronunciation pretty much swallow the k when it is past tense. I've been saying it to myself, and the k is basically not there. Is it more right simply because more people say it that way?
I think JuanVladez is right about the swallowing the k in past tense. But "axed" is a lot like "prolly". Feel free to say it, I dont care, but dont expect it to help your job prospects. I had to make an effort to remove "like" from my vocab....I sounded like a teenager with the "he was like, whats up." garbage. I sadly use "dude" sometimes. I try not to at work.
