Well, Steko's last post should finally put to rest all of the clamouring for Badianne. The guy has a limited offensive game and very poor lateral movement which is the kiss of death for his playing the 4 against the competition in the West. The Rockets need a true starting PF now and not a potential (maybe) backup center 2 years from now. It's back to square one for the Rockets (again).
Thanks for your repeated contributions to this thread Ill. I guess you thought your other 17 posts in this thread didn't make your position clear enough.
Badiane sounds like a bigger version of Bo Outlaw to me from what I read. An incredibly athletic man with energy and will to attack the ball with any given opportunity. Dive for loose balls, block shots, hustle for rebounds. And from what I've read he has a little bit of an offensive game with the mid range jumper and baby hook as Dr. Dunk posted. It really just sounds like he's very raw and needs some guidance in how to play the game the right way. As for his lack of minutes in the euro leagues I heard of rumors that coaches bench their best players so they don't get recognized by NBA scouts to keep them on their team longer and play them later on in their careers. I dunno if it's true, but I heard they did that for Darko. Darko's probably not the best example especially since people are already calling him a bust even though he's played very limited minutes which can be interpreted negatively.
No problem, glad to help out. Careful about being critical of a fellow poster. You're a a fellow member of the class of 2002 and don't have many posts to your credit. According to some around here, you're not entitled to speak your mind. I didn't realize there was a post per thread limit around here.
The Coaches in the Euro Leagues want to win. The fans over there are rowdy and don't tolerate losing. Generally speaking, those Coaches play whomever they feel gives them the best chance at winning.
If somebody locks this post there won't be anything left to talk about. We can title the next post "interesting Euro-trash" and some people won't be interested anymore.
Well, the inside game in European Leagues is vastly different than in the NBA. It's much less of a power game. That makes it hard to compare. My feeling is, that Badiane is more of a center, patrolling the paint on defense and getting the occasional put-back on offense.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. It would be ideal if Malick could effectively guard some of the new age PFs, but I'll be thrilled just to see him crack the Rockets rotation at some point, whether it's playing behind Yao or next to him.
