I am pretty sure we debated this before but I could not resist. Why not trade for J kidd and give up Juwan Howard, Weatherspoon and others to make the deal work. Get their First round draft pick this year and give them our First round pick next year. We can use our pick and combine it with the pick acquired from New Jersey and Go for a PF Like Villeaneau or Splitter. Sign another defensive minded PF using the MLE. Obviously if we retain Deke, we would have resolved the two sore points that stopped us this time. I would even sign Van exel as a back up PG- just for playoffs! ( for the minimum) Let us look at it this way- in the next 5 years if we have a shot at the title 3 times legitimately- then it is a no- brainer. That would be the perfect age for Yao and McGrady to really thrive. I understand Kidd has an ugly contract- he is not going anywhere by being at NJ for the next 3 years- and we really dont get much out of Weatherspoon, Vin Baker or Juwan. Sure if we wait for 1 year, we can get rid of a lot of contracts- but that would be 1 year too late. Having Kidd- will immediately impact the team- period. I really dont buy the age argument whe n it comes to talent like Jkidd. Just look at Steve Nash!
If you want to think big, use your imagination! Moochie for KG then Baker for Duncan, we are set for years after that!
I gave you the benefit of the doubt at "and others to make the deal work", but couldn't make it further than swapping first rounders. Let us think realistically.
Howard had a decent year, it'd save them some money by getting rid of Kidd's contract, then they can sign another PG. I don't know... I'm just saying... all of this is impossible.

You wanna trade Howard & Spoonman away and only get Jason Kidd back in return? Come on. Maybe Kidd & Jefferson for Moochie + Spoonman. I'd consider that one, but no way am I trading away Juwan freaking Howard AND C. Spoon just for Jason Kidd.
brilliant, i wounder if the Rockets have considered this block buster idea. do you work the the organization? if not they need to tap into the wealth of information you seem to have. what about mooch for duncan plus the 24th pick?
