Flip Saunders is rumored to be the guy.

I wouldn't mind Laimbeer, but I don't know that they'll take a guy without NBA head coaching experience at this point (even if he is a Bad Boy and has a WNBA title).

If I were the Pistons, I'd fire him right now and replace him (if the rumors are true).

    Unprecedented to be for sure...........but............

What difference does it make if it's true or not?

People line up their next job before quiting their current one all the time. In fact, you are considered not too bright in this world if you quit without having a job lined up.

if phil jackson wants to maintain his championship reputation, the pistons would have to be atop his list for suitors.

it would be interesting to see him work w/out a dominant superstar.

I don't think phil would take the job if detroit repeats this year though. But it would be interesting to see him coach detroit.

The Pistons will never hire Phil Jackson. Never. He badmouthed the organization for well over a decade when he was with Chicago and LA. When Larry Brown took the Pistons job Jackson said it was a mistake because Detroit would never be good enough to win a title.

The owner, fans and personnell would never allow Jackson near The Palace.

It will be Flip or, possibly, Nate McMillen.

So much for playing the game the "right way". Way to go WanderLust Brown.

Maybe it is just Karma for the way the Pistons treated a back2back 50 win coach. I am rooting hard for the Heat to knock the Pistons off this weekend so that the drama can take center stage for us to see.

My guess for next Piston's coach is Phillip "Zen Master" Jackson. Distant sencond will be Saunders.

Jeff Van Gundy. This guy will leave the rockets to coach the likes of Darko Milici and Big Ben Wallace.

You know what, I think Nate would be a better fit than Flip. Forgot about McMillan. He used to have Seattle play a lot of D before he realized his players can't D. I think he'll be good there.

lol.....no joke. If that wasn't the biggest "coach getting fired for no good reason espically when I won 50 games two years in a row and led a team with what seemed like 0 talent in the playoffs and oh yeah I won coach of the year award" than I don't know what was. Not that I am bitter for the guy or anything, I just think he got screwed and got so big time.

Anyway, back to topic: How about these names that haven't been mentioned:

Tom Izzo- lives in Michigan, instant credibility, preaches the D first. and he is a very good coach.

    Paul Silas-......we'll, he is available.

    Jim O'Brien-....see above....lol

Rudy T- just because I'd like to see him coach again (providing he truley is healthy) and he too is from Michigan

Mario Elie- why not? Avery Johnson did it. And I think Elie gets a little more respect on the BBS

    Pat Ewing-......hahahahahahahahaha

Eric Mussleman- I don't think he was a bad coach. I don't know that he'd fit, but I'm just thinking of names at this point.

    Finally

Joe Dumars--and why not? He has been around that organization SO long. And NO ONE has the respect of that locker room more than Joe D. Whenever they have had beefs with Larry "Leaving in as soon as I get another Job offer" Brown, players routinley went to Joe D. And they said on "Jim Rome is Burning" this afternoon that Joe D and Larry had a "loud verbal match" after one of these games recently.

    Comments?

    I bet Larry Brown returns.

Then again, he always seems to leave a team once he's makes it pretty good.

    San Antonio.
    Indiana
    Philadelphia.
    Detroit?

Maybe he just likes building teams, doesn't care to collect rings...but ya know what's really interesting about all these teams...years later and they are still defensive focused. Talk about leaving a mark on a franchise.

Well, no one has ever done anything with the clippers.
