Who will the Rockets select for the 24th Pick? Will it be the Big man from Kansas? What about Ike from Arizona? Will someone fall down to 24 like Sean (new round mound of rebound) May? Should we get a sleeper PG and go for Swift? Just over 4 weeks to the NBA Draft, who would you pick?:D

I'd draft may, assuming he drops down to 24. I've been thinking about it lately and even if we can get a swift in free agency or a simien or fernandez in the draft, i still don't think we'll be able to beat the spurs in 7. I'd rather go for may who has an nba body and still will develop into a better player. simien's past injuries scare me and im still not sure on blatche. if he's being compared to steven hunter and hunter isn't much to be excited about, i'll go may. I think may would be ideal for the rockets and i think he would just be starting to develop into a fine player when tmac and yao are in their prime and most importantly, the spurs start to age with their main threat duncan getting older.

It wouldn't shock me if they traded this pick in a deal before the draft...to get a PF.If that happens and we go where we're slotted I'd like to see them take Jarret Jack or Rashad McCants. Now,if we don't acquire a PF via trade and pick one,I guess I'd like to see them trade up for May.
If it's a PF at #24 - Warrick or Simien

Rockets ain't drafting no high school player. JVG is not about to raise a kid. Kid ain't getting you to a championship. We need somebody with a criminal transcript (tough dude in the middle), not a high school transcript.

    Jarrett Jack--PG

The chances of you finding a perimeter at #24 who'll stick in this league are far greater than a big man. A PG drafted at $24 will likely start the year as a 3rd point guard and you hope he can get backup minutes as the year progresses. At #24, you simply select the best player avaiable, and if Jack is available, he would be the best player available.

Its not like the player they draft is going get any playing time under JVG anyway. So they should draft the guy with the most potential or draft a European.

Joey Graham if he's available. The Rockets need to leave the european players alone, they've had NO luck with them at all. ( Turksan, Nachbar)

I would love to get May, but he will probabally be gone way before 24. Ike might be tempting here, but he has not played against big 4's except Channing Frye. Plus, he might be shorter than the listed 6'8''. A PF the plays in the perimeter just scares me. A PG is interesting here if we can't find the right PF or player for this team. Jarrett or Julius Hodge would be a very good pickup.

    Julius Hodge

A 6'6/6'7 swingman who can play the 1, 2 and 3. He's in the mold of Josh Howard and Marquis Daniels.

The more I read here and elsewhere I'm leaning towards any of the available:

PF - Ronny Turiaf, Charlie Villaneuva
PG/SG - Jarrett Jack, Kennedy Winston, Julius Hodge

I just think the undersized tweener PF guys like Warrik, Diogu and Simien will not have the size to dominate in the NBA like they did in college. Especially if they measure in shorter than their listed 6'8". They may be productive, but not necessarily in the role the Rockets need. They remind me of Corliss Williamson, solid but not a building block.

If you can get a productive nba player in the draft at #24 then that would be a great accomplishment. If any of the smaller PFs could turn into a Kenny Thomas (6-7) type player then I'll be all for selecting him.

The NBA scouts and talent evaluators said the same thing about Antwan Jamison. He was "tweener" coming out of college, but he has developed into a very good player.

    Simien please.

And I don't believe the NBA scouts are all that great at figuring out "Tweeners" who can play.

Too often they worry more about body type than skills...that is why you get Olawakandi drafter number 1 over all.

Just give me a team full of skilled players...and see what happens.

Remember Barley was a 6'5" PF......desire is far more important at the NBA level.

Well they must not have been that down on him, considering where he was drafted.

Most of the tweener forwards at 24 will be there precisely because their games probly wont translate well to the NBA, but who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and buck the odds by getting someone like a Kenny Thomas or Teyshaun Prince.

As far as who the Rox will draft, I think it'll be

Best Player Available from parts unknown.

Barkley was a 6'5" PF and got owned on Defense by Malone and a host of PF's. 6,7 is way to small for a Power Forward.
Rockets should just pick the best player. We need talent at evey postion, as backup or starter.

Wayne Simien hopefully, we need someone to hit the midrange shot to stop them from doubling down on Yao. He can do this better than all the PF's in the draft.

you would think with our recent history of undersized power forwards that rockets fans would shy away from picking up another one ... guess not.
