Wow. I remember that Houston bit with "Buffalo" from, what, 1996? I just assumed this horrible oversight had been remedied.
Good for Houston. And a good 4 years before Conan would have taken over the Tonight Show. At least they didn't wait that long. Now THAT would have been embarrasing.
He was on at 2:40 in the morning back then, I believe. He'd rag on Houston every night about that. It also led to the infamous Hilton the Chainsaw Guy vs. Mattress Mac contest.
Conan wanted to invite one of his two biggest ad sponsors in Houston to the show...he kept showing the ridiculous Hilton commercials (one of which he has his chainsaw--AND IS DRESSED LIKE SANTA CLAUS). They put it to a vote on the internet and Hilton killed Mattress Mac like 3 to 1...lots of funny stuff happened, including Matress Mac trying to buy his way onto the show by sending a recliner to Conan. The recliner broke as soon as he sat in it. Anyway, Hilton appeared on the show, which was probably the best episode ever other than the final one with Andy.
Awesome. That's great news. It doesn't make much sense that the station hasn't done it sooner. I had no idea Conan ever did that Hilton vs. Mac skit; man, I wish I would have seen it. They both annoy the **** out of me and would have liked to see them get **** on.
I remember one skit where he was walking around Houston at 2 or 3 in morning asking people if they knew his show was on. Funny stuff
The great part was at the end when he was sitting in an empty Astrodome watching his show on the Diamondvision.
That bit was hilarious, it went on for an entire summer I think. I laughed every time I saw one of the sponsors (can't remember which one) during League Pass viewings of Rocket games.
