The only casinos in America that have sports books, where you can bet on nearly all sports, are the ones in Nevada. In Atlantic City, they have what they call race books, where you can only bet on horse racing and dog racing. I think sports books are dying out due to the popularity of online sports gambling. I really enjoy sports books when I'm in Vegas or Tahoe during football season. I like to play a 5 or 6 game parlay card on a college football Saturday or a pro football Sunday and sit in the sports book watching the games and drinking for free!
Perhaps they don't want to deal with the influx of amateurs now playing poker due to this new craze. I like it. Keep the casinos for the gamblers and players and keep the TV poker players away.
heh...yea I heard about this place weeks ago....my wife and her sister have been planning to go on opening weekend. They love to play the machines tho...and they claim that the house will set them to have more winners on opening weekend in order to attract more people. Hope she is right...I could use some extra cash. The best thing about this..... if I can pawnoff the kid on a grandma, Im free to go do anything I want this weekend.
When we were there last, four of us put down $20 bets on four baseball games of our own choosing. If any of them would've won, we'd have split the pot. We were two innings from winning $575 a piece! I just discovered how much fun the sports books are my last trip. My next trip will be during football season.
heh.....seems like you and I have watched about the same amount of Shrek....that's what I first thought of too!!!
The first time I ever went to Las Vegas, the NBA and NHL playoffs were going on simultaneously, and it was a blast. I have also been during March Madness and it was a blast also.
That'd be awesome. We were originally planning on going the weekend of April 30th this year which would've been amazing. I'll let you know when we finally pick a date and see if you want to join. That'd be a blast.
You really think that all the other people in those casinos are "gamblers" and "players"? Everytime I've been to a La casino it's full senior citizens (85%) and locals (10%). Coushatta has a poker room and it's mostly full of locals.
HE SAID HE WAS WATCHING THE NEWS (CHANNEL 13) AND THE REPORTER SAID THEY OFFER ALL TYPED OF TABLE GAMES BUT THE EXCEPTION OF...TEXAS HOLD EM.
Was that the TOP STORY or the BREAKING NEWS? Dude, we were about to boook a trip there to golf in the am and play poker at night. Guess that shoots that idea down. Wonder if I should call em and tell them they lost a ton of business with that stupid decision...
I don't gamble and as a result don't plan on visiting anytime soon. I might go one day if they have entertainment like they do in Vegas.
No poker room does it for me. I don't like the buffets or the hacky entertainment. The slots are annoying, I don't understand craps and blackjack takes my money too quickly. I'm sure there is Caribbean stud and 3 card poker but it's not the same as sitting at a table with a group of strangers, exchanging pleasantries and check/raising them into a coronary.
