yao controls the number of his shot attempts

he can either be aggressive or passive

if he wants to take more shots, he can ask for the ball

but if he's passive and tmac's doubled, we need someone else (not exactly Spree) to shoot the ball..

If I were to choose to stay put or trade fr spree, I'll trade for Spree

I wouldn't mind having a starting lineup of...

    Yao - C
    Chandler or Swift - PF
    McGrady - SF
    Spree or Mobley - SG
    Daniels or Kidd - PG

I'll take any of these combinations.

One thing I really don't wanna see is a rookie PF starting for us, unless maybe it's Hakim Warrick.

Say no to Spreewell! Too much risk to the locker room chemistry.

We need a good rebounder and defender at the 4. I wouldn't mind seeing Edjuardo Najera playing the role Ryan Bowen played in the playoffs.

I'd rather get Bobby Simmons. Think young, someone who can play with this team for awhile and not collect AARP.

This is ridiculous... if anything, game 7 should show you how important a supporting cast should be.

    Yao - 33 points

    Tracy - 27 points.

Team still loses by 40.... any questions?

DW is too valuable a 'chip' to use for Spree. Spree to Rox, whee! if -- IF -- it's for the lesser exception (or an SnT for Mooch or VB).

No, he just listens to me when I said a few weeks ago that I predict Spree will be in Houston next season.;)

It would make perfect sense if the Rockets do a sign-n-trade with the T-Wolves, sending DW while acquiring Spree in return. Spree-for-Wesley head2head would be a good trade for the Rockets. Spree is basically a taller version of DW, who can play D, and can slash inside better than DW ever could. Both players are not great shooters, but Spree is just a better player.

Hopefully I am right again about predicting Spree in a Rockets uni next season

There is nothing more overrated than "locker room chemistry"

These guys are freakin' professionals and as long as they care about winning games, then no problems there.

Just look at Shaq & Kobe...

As long as Yao and t-Mac have good chemistry together, then everyone else doesn't matter much, because JVG doesn't stand for **** from anyone, and he has a previous positive history with Spree, which would come into play here.

At about $5 mill per for 2-3 years, I would sign Spree, but ONLY if we get rid of DW in a SnT deal, who is the big hole in our lineup as far as I am concerned, mainly because of his limited height.

I would really like to see a tenacious backcourt combo of Sura/MJ & Spree/Barry and may be even that Greek kid. That would be a solid, inexpensive backcourt right there that should be good enough to get past the 1st round next season. Then, hopefully we can get a young athletic PF in the lineup and that would be some fun run-n-gun team right there.

    I like:cool:

this is the whole problem. he didn't seem to care to win last year, what's going to change that this year?

Spree would be a terrible addition for the Rockets. He was absolutely horrible last year. At age 35, many players start to decline at a quick rate. He also possess a very bad attitude. One cancerous player can destroy the season.

BTW, since Wesley's contract is up after this season, if the Rockets want to wait and keep DW, along with Baker's and Spoon's expiring contracts next season, then that also would work for future semi-flexibility in the payroll. However, doing so would ensure another swift exist from the playoffs next season.

So either they trade those contracts to try and win it all NOW, or wait around for a couple of seasons while those crappy contracts we have expire.

I am OK both ways, but it won't be fun when you know you can't win it all with all the bad contracts we got for the next couple for seasons.

There is never been so much riding on off season moves (drafts, free agent signings, trades, etc.) as it is this season.

I am still dying to see who we will get in the draft, and whether or not, as JVG has indicated, we will make trades before draft night.

What will change is the climate and the change of address. Spree made it no secret that he hates Minnesotta, but I don't think he would mind a nice warm climate here in Houston that allows him to drive around his custom cars (man, I hope he opens here one of his custom car shops like those in NYC;) ).

I think the whole "I can't feed my family for $14 mill" talk was basically Spree trying to clear the way for getting out of Minny, he is not an idiot, he knew he wouldn't get anywhere close to that much, but I think he wanted to use that as an excuse to get out of town.

So that's my theory on why he didn't play well last season;)

Spree/Cassell/Hudson couldn't get to the playoffs last year. Spree's constant bickering over his contract had a negative effect over the whole organization. Last time I checked Spree is nowhere near the level of Shaq & Kobe.

Add me to the no-Sprewell camp.

He has a flat jumpshot which makes him an offensive liability. He does not have the flash he used to have. He likes to shoot a lot, which is a disadvantage for any team because Spree misses a lot of shots.

A team can only win a championship with effective role players that know how to finish offensively. Sprewell is too streaky to be dependable.

If the Rockets added Spree, I, as the opponent would want Spree to shoot a lot, because the dude is a brick machine.

You've just described David Wesley, which is exactly why I am saying ONLY in a SnT.

Spree is a step up from DW in my opinion.

The difference is Spree is 35 and will not take a one year contract.

First, I dont buy it until Marc mentions a source.

Having said that, the only negative thing having spree is chemistry spoiler, but JVG had ways dealing with Spree. I would love to have Spree's mid range game between 10 to 18 foot, he is going to find a lot of space there alongside with Yao and Tmac. Sign him cheap though, two year tops.

    NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

the rockets are a class organization and i really like all our players. i think we have a genuinely good group of guys. i would be extremely disappointed if spree was brought in.

he is the one former knick i would absolutely hate having on our team. i dont question his effort on the court, but its his character and total lack of class off the court. i wouldnt condem over one single negative incident, but he does have a history. like the coach choking, throwing a punch at some dude and hitting a wall, breaking his hand or the crap he spewed last summer about needing to feed his family. the things he has said and done over the years add up.

***after this rant i went and actually looked up his stats.

12 pts on 41.4%. played 80 games! i thought he might have missed more. only played 30 minutes and hit 32% from 3's though. only like 3 reb's too.

not horrible, but i still say NNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!
