Watching the Western Conference finals, I saw Pheonix get slowed down by the Spurs and forced to play more of a half court offence. When the suns sped things up, the Spurs forced turnovers and slowed things down on both ends of the court. As we look into adding and putting changes into our lineup for the next upcoming season, I hope we get players that have both the ability to play the uptempo game and the slow pace halfcourt game. As fun as it is watching the Suns and the Rockets running and zipping through the court, when a brick wall like the Spurs slow the pace down, especially during the playoffs, will we be ready?

We never were run out of town by the Suns. We actually slowed them down a bit in a couple of games. Phoenix doesn't worry me so much if we gather talent that adheres to JVG's defense and offense. The Spurs worry me - they are a machine when healthy.

Therein is the real question of the summer.

Who do the Rox need to add to be able to compete with SAS to come out of The West?

Who stands tall at the 4 v TD?
    Who mans up with Manu?
    Who slows Parter?

Who answers those requirements, then how do Rox get them?

The slow half court game has not hurt the Suns offense one bit. It's been their defense that has killed them.

Especially in the 4th quarter. Even though the Suns are the best physically conditioned team, they tend to wear down a bit due to heavy minutes and it clearly shows on the defensive end.

They are also short handed, playing without Joe Johnson, one of their primary scorers.

We can't play the half-court game because we have no one to break down the defense besides T-mac and Yao (sometimes). Maybe James too. Besides them, the other players just stand around and don't properly exploit the mismatches. So basically, if you take out T-mac, James, and Yao, we can't do **** in a half-court game, at least not effectively or consistantly.

Then hopefully when we add players this offseason we will be looking for players that can seriously help us out in these areas.

It's whatever helps us win games. If the dump it in the post offence helps us win then so be it. Sometimes the ends justify the means.

well, I don't like this excuse: they have a MVP, and two second/thrid ALL-NBA team players and now they blame their lose to short of JJ?

I know we were never really ran out of town by the Suns. But do you think we have the capability to slow the Suns down and still have our offense function. Mcgrady and Sura seem to work better when they too are also running up and down. Say the Spurs slow us down, will Mcgrady still have the same impact?

If y'all had watched the four games we played against the Suns, you would see we were probably the best team against them. We held them in check compared to all the other teams. I think the Spurs won 2 and lost one against them.
