I have seen just as many "Obi Won Ginobli" posters in SA.

well, this series is over. the suns had a nice 7 point lead at 81-74 and then just played like crap while the spurs went on an 11-1 run to get control of the game. then they couldn't stop them for crap nor hit any big shots themselves. they won't be able to overcome this, especially since JJ won't be full strength when he gets back. looks like i'm down to hoping detroit (who i don't even like) wins the title to keep duncan and shaq from winning even more.

I think Joe Johnson will be a factor in this series before its all said and done. Obviously, they have to win game 2 right now to have any shot whatsoever (and he won't be at full strength for that one).

Of course, the biggest problem the Suns have again is not offense... its defense. The sad thing is that the Suns have individual players who are very good defenders (Jackson, Amare, Marion)... but they play some of the worst team defense I've ever seen.

They're going to have to bank on the Spurs not playing that well in game 2 to have any shot what-so-ever. Joe Johnson probably won't be playing at an effective level till game 4 or 5 at the earliest. If they can somehow get it to 2-2, I'll give the Suns a chance... but as of now, they should be the underdogs going into game 2.

It is totally crazy to give up 43 points in the 4th quarter of a playoff game. You can forget the Suns if they don't play better defense. The Spurs got so many easy baskets in a row in crunch time it was a joke. Reminded me somewhat of the 41-17 4th quarter whipping we put on the Suns a couple of months ago.

I said it before and I'll say it again: When Tony Parker brings his "A" game, the Spurs are very close to unbeatable. The Suns don't punish enough on defense to throw him off his game. Parker and Ginobilli had a great time out there going up against the phantom defense. Maybe Joe Johnson will make the difference from here on.

I don't care who wins. If the Rockets are not in it, I have no interest whatsoever. And I was born in San Antonio.

A sad state of affairs when the decision is rooted in the lesser of 4 evils.

I agree with a ton here.

The key now is game 2. I said before the game if the Suns could split the 1st two given the short turnaround, injury situation, and their road play, I like their chances to win the series.

Overall, I thought the Suns did OK to stay competitive ingame 1 given a lot of lucky breaks the Spurs got (half court banked 3, couple of other long 3s, and bad breaks where the stops turned into fumbled DRB by the Suns and then Spurs 3s). I thought the real turning point was late 3rd/early 4th. Suns had a chance to push the lead to double digits and a couple of dumb plays/fumbles by Barbosa and Hunter allowed the Spurs to stay close. That allowed the Spurs to relax and little bit, play deliberate, and the Suns wore down out the stretch.

Still without Joe Johnson (who also would majorly cut down Barbosa and Hunters time, and keep Jim Jack fresher), I just don't see enough firepower. He also is their best perimeter defender--much longer, and quicker, than Jackson. What a lot people don't seem to realize is at full strength he is the player Ginobili is, if not more. If the Suns were full strength, and the Spurs had no Ginobili, the Suns would be overwhelming favorites.

The Suns have to try to stay even and hope JoeJ can come back (say 75%). The fact Q has played like dogsh** for a few weeks now even makes it more important.

I actually WANT Miami to win. I'd love nothing more than for Kobe to be cut down to size. (Besides, Shaq really is a nice guy. He was our NBA spokesman for years.) Plus, if one Gundy wins a championship this year, it just might motivate the other one. :)

3 reasons why I'm cheering for the Spurs
    1. They're a Texas team
    2. I like Duncan
    3. They don't have Amare

You've been making a lot of contradictory posts the last few days Scar. I'm guessing if the Spurs were without Ginobili, you'd try to minimize it.

Right. Duncan obviously isn't 100%, although his stats is ok.
