Was thinking about buying another Xbox soon, does anyone know what the current retail price is? Is it still 200 bucks or where to possibly get a good used one?
It's $150 now I think they'll crank it down to maybe $99 or less before the new Xbox comes out (before Christmas maybe?)
i have preety much stopped buying xbox games and wait for the xbox360. no point in buying the current xbox games when they gonna be obsolete in a couple months.
That sounds about right. I've been waiting for the PS2 announcement of $99, and I doubt the Xbox would still be sold for $150 if its competition was either $50 or more cheaper. Then again, I believe they're still losing money on the console, so they may just stick with the $150 price. Either that or they won't go much, if any, lower than $99. I think they also got their last shipment from Nvidia, so it sounds like once they use up the 2-3 million consoles they have parts for, then I think that will be it for the Xbox.
I pre-ordered the 360 at EB Games and the employee told me that Microsoft revealed it will be backwards compatible.
Technically, it is only partly BC. It seems like Microsoft will just let it be compatible with the top-selling games, and not actually every Xbox game. Better than nothing though.
Good question. I believe Microsoft said they would continue to support it, but who knows. I can't think of many games being developed for the Xbox that are slated to come out late this year and on. The PS2, on the other hand, still seems to have a lot of AAA titles to go, especially from Square-Enix (FF12, KH2, US version of DQ8). In fact, S-E made a big note about the PS3's BC since it would allow people to purchase the PS3 and still be able to play FF12 when it is released next year. The PS1 had some good support after the PS2, so I imagine that will happen again for the PS2. I would guess that the Xbox would at least receive support from the big guns, such as EA. Microsoft may not care about supporting it, but EA and other publishers can still make a few bucks off of it if they want to. They just need to have the resources to do that.
Microsoft isn't coming out with anything anytime soon but alot of the 3rd parties and 2nd parties are
