I'll never own one of their CDs, and I change the channel whenever they come on the radio. I don't think that's "hating a band", but that's how I feel about Rush....the band AND Limbaugh!
OK, I'm going to need your full address now because I'm calling CPS. Back to the list. I pretty much hate any band whose band name is a misspelled word. (ie. Limp Bizquick, Korn, Linckin Fart, et al) Oh yeah. I also like Styx. And Journey too. I likes me some 70's corporate rock.
It depends on what kind of funny. I don't see funny as being necessarily derogatory, and can be an artform all to itself. Some bands are too self-concious about the way they try to be funny, and Weird Al is a category all to himself. But some other bands are funny, and that is part of their artform. Pavement, Weezer, Devo, etc. Some use the humor to make a deeper message. I guess my main point is that funny doesn't always mean less artful, in music, films, or plays. Sometimes it is more artful, depending on it is done.
Hair Bands!! Those god awful hair bands!!! I remember Lita Ford crying in an interview "what happened to my rock and roll?". The f***ing hair bands helped kill it. I became a fan of punk because everybody who I went to school with and several male family members took these "bands" way too seriously. There are some bands that could fit both definitions of metal and hair. it's a very blurry line. Metallica(before 1992),The Scorpions,Iron Maiden, some Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Van Halen all had some semblance of talent. The three "bands" mentioned above either were really bad caricatures of heavy metal or in Kiss's case never knew when to quit. And to me they personified everything that is wrong in music. Most of us can agree that Britney,Ashlee and every other piece of crap is manufactured and totally soulless. Why are hair bands immune? Because they can play their own instruments! Puhleeze. They peddle their s*** to males as Britney and Ashlee peddle their's to girls. That's probably the only difference. And to Freak, I don't think my opinion would carry any more weight than anyone else's. But this thread is about bands you hate. People have already given their verdict about bands I like. That's their right. My reasons for such vitriol are as personal as they are based on musical taste. So to anyone who has been remotely offended by my ranting, tough s***.
EMO just sucks, any band with a guy singing like a adolescent, voice cracking, whiny, b**** should be shot! Dashboard Confessional Jimmy Eats World Saves the Day A Newfound Glory Thursday The Used
Let me clarify what type of funny I'm talking about with an example. Here's an excerpt from The Bloodhound Gang's "Why's Everybody Always Pickin' On Me" <LYRICS> See the trick is only pick on those that can't do you no harm Like the drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm </LYRICS> Yes, he really says it that many times. Now picture one of your buddies saying, "Hey check out this song, it's awesome!" Then he presses play and looks over at you smiling and anxiously awaiting your reaction. Meanwhile I'm thinking he can't really think this is a good song. This type of situation is really annoying to me. Not because I'm offended by it or anything like that, but its just terrible music that lacks any kind of "real" substance.
A lot of one listed here already. Don't hate them per se, but don't like the music and get on my nerves when I hear them for the most part. Good Charlotte Blink182 Puddle of Mudd A simple plan the eagles creed Live Hootie and the Blowfish Metallica post ride the lightening Aerosmith(cept for their earlier stuff) DMB Also, one that no one has mentioned yet ... Ozzy. I can't stand his singing. He has put out some good stuff even in spite of his voice, but I still hate that voice. Makes my skin crawl.
Creed and Nickelback definitely top my list as well as Linkin Park and all those other awful nu-metal bands. But I also want to mention Metallica and Aerosmith - two bands that were great in the beginning but then got sucked into the MTV hype machine and then wound up sucking absolute donkey balls since then.
I hate very much Hanson, but i dont think it count because they are only a guys "singing" not a band. I dont go to parties or discos because all day they play all the plastic comercial music
Limp Bizkit Any Boy Band Any Teenie queen (Brittany, Christina, Hillary [even though she is soooo cute], etc) Keith Urban The White Stripes (greatest hype in music history) Nirvana (tied with White Stripes for most hyped band in music history) Stryper White Lion Firehouse Winger (thought I'd go a little 80's old school cheese metal) L.A. Guns Metallica (post And Justice For All) Pearl Jam Creed (with arrrrrrrrmmmmmssss wide opennnnnnn!) Aerosmith (post Pump)
REO Speedwagon Kansas Boston Styx About 30 years ago I really liked these bands, now I have to change the channel when they come on the radio.
