This is my personal take, so no link.

The expectations of a July 1 lockout are rapidly rising, and one of the consequences of a lockout would be the loss of July summer league play. The Rockets are looking at an early July summer league, making it likely, in the event of a lockout, that the Rockets won't have an opportunity to get a feel for how ready Spanoulis and Badiane are to contribute.

I don't see JVG wanting these guys on the roster if they're going to be wild cards. He's cut from the same cloth as Phil Jackson and Larry Brown, and would far rather have an older veteran that knows what to do than a raw but more talented rookie.

Spanoulis' comments about wanting to stay in the Euroleague until he's 100% ready (draftcity.com) could also indicate that if he sees a lockout, he'll simply re-up with Maroussi for a couple years.

there is no talk about badiane so i doub't he is coming next year.

spanouliss may be here depending on how he plays in the summer. i think even he will take an extra season or two in europe before moving here for good.

Man, I have got to comment on this. I constantly see posts about how "I think _____ will take another few seasons of development before he'll be over here." or "I think _____ is ready to play for the Rockets this year."

Somebody explain to me where I have to sign up to get Spanoulis's and Badiane's games on my television. I have to think that 95% or more of you guys are just like me and have never seen either of them play a game. That being the case, all we have to rely on is scouting reports and articles. Most of us Clutchfans nut jobs all read the same scouting reports and articles. So why on earth do people keep on talking like they have any real idea of how ready either of these kids are? Talk all you want about how much you hope they're ready to contribute, that's fine, but if you're not watching them play, don't pretend you know how long it's going to be before they're ready to contribute.

By the way, this wasn't intended to be directed towards anyone particular. Specifically, it wasn't intended to be directed at anyone who has already posted above me. I've been seeing these kinds of posts ever since each in turn were drafted, and I've always wondered how in the hell people have such an insight into what these kids are capable of and when they'll be ready.

You just need Nba Tv I've only seen Badine play two games two years ago. I've never seen Vassilis play just like just read scouting reports. You should be able to catch hopefully two or three games on Nba Tv this summer. Badine was real impressive and I'm excited about him even though his stats in summer league were impressive and he look good, his stats in Germany suck. I'm wondering since we're working out draft prospects is he here working out with Patrick Ewing again.

Evan, I agree. From the things I have read I get the feeling that Badiane is still a year or 2 away. But Spanoulis might be ready this year. But with no Summer League that is going to hurt us because you are right, I dont see JVG taking a chance. He wants to KNOW.

The Rockets' draft will set the table for the Rockets decisions. And then our MLE usage will follow.
