So many good choices, but my vote would have to go to my dearly departed cousin (3rd cousin to be exact),

    Ms. Janis Joplin

    my favorites:

    Sam Cooke
Stephen Marriot (Small Faces..Humble Pie sucked)
Rod Stewart (total douchebag, but GREAT rock voice)
    John Garcia (Kyuss/Slo Burn/Unida/Hermano)

Never saw that thread....but we know that Droxford apperantly doesnt know much about Whitney's career. Whitney currently holds the record for #1 consecutive hits @ 7.

i'm no expert and i don't have a huge repetoire in music, but whitney houston's voice always give me goosebumps. she is absolutely brilliant with such a strong voice.

when i hear her song "i will always love you", i turn it up real loud so i can't hear my own voice and sing along with her. it makes me feel like i have her voice! :D

I gotta say the late great Roy Orbinson.

    His voice was hypnotic.

I'm surprised no one has said Freddie Mercury. He certainly had one of the most pwerful voices I have ever heard.

I can't believe I left Whitney Houston off my list. Wow. Very definitely should be on there.

And to top it... I can't believe I missed that other thread. That was comedy at its finest. For the record, Dolly Parton has stated that Whitney Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You" is better.

Dolly's version was cute and sweet.
    Whitney's version was mesmerizing.
    I like both versions.

Like someone else said, there's something about Whitney's voice that lifts me up when I hear her sing. I felt the same with Mariah Carey's voice until she started doing duets with "gangstas". Mariah's first album is one of my favorite ones of all time. Simply beautiful voice.

Nat King Cole has a great voice.

More modern I'd go with Freddy Mercury
