Can someone give me a recap about the duck contest that Anderson had participated? I missed it but intrigued to know.

The one thing I do not like from the little I've watched Chris Andersen play : no offense, but the guy appears to be flat out dumb. He seems to have that mentality where his team could be down 30 points, but if he got a great dunk it was like he won the championship. It also seemed like he'd make at least one or two absolutely boneheaded plays during the games we played him.

    Duck?

Well. That's what Chris Anderson's parents were doing in the crowd after his performance..

I think that is good though. Provides for a real interesting PF lineup. JH who can hit the 15 ft jumper of the PnR, CA to battle down low, or Padgett to bomb the 3. I think CA would be a good fit personally, especially if we get another PF in the draft.

If he's willing to learn, JVG will turn him around. We have a coach that can bring a lot out of players as long as they're dedicated.

I like the kids energy and his defensive ability. As a backup to Juwan Howard he would fit in. IMO

As far as insulting him and saying he is dumb is uncalled for. This guy has worked his ass off and deserves his paycheck. I just hope it's not 4+ mil a year. CD has been known to open his wallet in the past.

EDIT: I meant to say Les.

He is dumb, but he won't feel leftout once he meets Ryan Bowen. They would make a nice couple.

Wow! I had no idea that Carrol Dawson, the Rockets' GM, was the one responsible for paying the players' salaries. Poor guy, he must be heavily indebted from all the money he is paying T-Mac.

I haven't watched Chris Anderson play much so I had very little interest in him coming here, but this profile has intrigued me. I can understand the logic in finding a player like Anderson, who has exceeded expectations, over somebody like Stromile Swift, who has fallen far short of them. Andersons rpg and bpg numbers look nice. Interesting prospect.

For someone that only makes 2 Mil in NBA, what more can you ask? :D The standard salary to feed the whole family in NBA is 10 mil.

I never thought Bowen was dumb - I just think he has very little talent other than the ability to keep trying. Bowen rarely makes a dumb play simply because of bad judgment. Andersen on the other hand : showing up the opposition after a dunk, acting like he just won a championship after hitting a shot to bring his team within oh... I don't know... 20, blocking shots he shouldn't because it's obvious they'll be goaltends...

Maybe I was just looking at all the right (wrong?) times and am exaggerating his mistakes. Where's Nuggets4? :)

hows that being dumb? If anything you could call him a showboater. Celebrating doesn't make him dumb. Given the fact he plays for New Orleans who wins like 10 games a season I dont blame him for celebrating something. If you're not winning, at least haev fun! That's what I say. Calling him dumb is alittle harsh.

I have been a non-active member for a while, so I thought I would post. I know for a fact that Chris Andersen has been known to play a little ball in the Heights at Immanuel Lutheran church. So he does hang out in H-town at times in the offseason. I think his tenacity and hustle are what we need. He will make mistakes, but all hustlers do. Van Gundy will shape him up and he will more than likely be the most cost effective option as well as the best fit in the locker room. Remember, team chemistry is absolutely vital.

to be fair, he did play on that denver team that won like 17 games the year before they got carmelo then had to play on the horrendous hornets team of last year. after a while, being down 20 probably feels like breaking even and a time to celebrate.

i have noticed the blocking shots that are goaltends as well as the blocking shots into the 3rd row mentality instead of keeping it in play. now granted, if i have a choice between a guy who has the layup float over his head for an easy 2 and the guy who can go up and get it and decides to knock it into the 3rd row, i'll take the guy hitting it into the 3rd row, but it'd still be nice to sort of try to keep it in play. i tend to also think playing on such crappy teams he could get away with that and with us he might try to be a little more refined (or jvg might bench him) so i don't worry about that too much.

i definitely see him as a cost-effective cato. his rebounds and blocks per minute are extremely nice. if he and deke both came in at the same time the middle could be shut down. of course, we might never score either. i assume he would play more with yao and howard would play more with deke to offset each other. nonetheless, a young, athletic, energetic shotblocker at the pf position would be nice for 15-20 minutes a night. though it might knock one of my favorites, padgett, out of the rotation. of course, who knows how much teams will offer him. we definitely can't throw full mle money at him.
