Well, it's been nearly 14 months since the last one, so I figured it's time for another one.

    Let's get some suggestions.

I haven't seen Behad here in a long time. Anyone know the deal with him?

It shows he posted yesterday in the Fantasy thread, but he hasn't been around here much for the past month.

Several people are trying to get together this Saturday at the Rice outdoor courts (Entrance 16 on Sunset) at around 11.

Another pickup game would be great. Would be really nice if we could get a private court like we had last time for Behad's get together.

I'd love to, but I've got my nephews last basketball games that day. I've already turned down golf with the future father in-law. I'm such a good uncle. :)

In my experience, full court pickup basketball is nothing but isolation plays and cherry picking for cheap, uncontested layups. Of course, I've never been to a clutchfans pickup game...

Understandable :). At least you're not ditching it for star wars :). Invitation is open to everyone else too.

Clutch members consists of only high IQ players :). We know the importance of swinging the ball around. In fact we swing it until the clock runs out :). J/k

I completely agree..I think fullcourt pickup is horrible.

Half the people don't bother to play D and justwait for fullcourt passes, or you have people jackimg up ridiculous jumpers before everyone is back.

Halfcourt forces you to actually execute and can kind of minimize discrepencies in athleticism.

Full court basketball is way more fun. We always have rules about everyone needs to get back on defence, otherwise you don't get to play.

I play mostly half-court but I love full court as well. I love breaking away when my defender shoots up from outside. I'll be sure to get the outlet pass from the rebound. Of course sometimes my teammate doesn't get the rebound and I have to come screaming back on defense. I'm sure our games won't be like that :).

Hey halfcourt is just fine with me! That court at Behad's was pretty nice because we played full court, but it was smaller than a regular size full court.

Can't make those elementary school kids (or the 25-45 year old men that show up at the pickup games) run full court.

    dude...I was DYING!

me and Behad didnt last for too long....but I did at least make a couple of memorable plays...one on offense and one on defense..

Im all for it....lets do it...

BTW...Behad...when you finally get around to reading this thread...question for you..

when doing brisket for many ppl....is it better to do two medium ones or one large?

got a family occasion coming up and they want my brisket...gotta feed around 20-25.

My experience is the larger the better. Just remember, always smoke a brisket Fatty Side Up. I use a combination of charcoal and soaked mesquite. Keep placing the chips and charcoal in the smoker until you get the red line in the "good" section of the monitor.

Typically, a good sized brisket takes me 12-15 hours.

its a big offset firebox smoker...

fatside up is a check.....Ill be using pecan this time...actually, a mixture of red oak and pecan....red oak for te longtem heatsource...and pecan for the smoking.

and my briskets take around 20 hours at ~225

btw...gotta meet up one of these days...Im getting attached to this laptop. :p

    ;)
