I've worn glasses since I was 6, and can't see much of anything without them. Tried contacts briefly, but hated them. Really haven't given any thought to surgery.
I am one square shot to the right eye away from permanent blindness. It's a genetic deficiency. Thanks dad.
-5.25 in both eyes. Today was the first day in a long time that I had to wear my glasses for the majority of the day. I must have had to answer 10 times today at work, "Yes, I wear glasses, but just not very often." When you wear glasses as infrequently as I do, it can mess you up a little bit when you do have to wear them for a significant amount of time.
I was legally blind at 3. I also have double vision. With glasses, I can see and adjusted to the double vision thing. I wore glasses growing up and switched to contacts in my teens. I don't think surgery can fix me, but will look into it. I just lack the moolah to get it down.
Manny, I just went in for my one-year followup visit for the LASIK surgery I had done last year. I'm dead on 20/15 in both eyes, and I spent about 4 minutes on the table getting the surgery. If you can afford it, what are you waiting for?
-10.25 right -09.50 left glasses since the 2nd grade, currently in contacts. beat that b****es. damn you
20/20 in my left eye, 20/200 in my right When i was 4 i developed a cataract in my right eye. Because of that i habitually stopped using the right eye, which weakened it alot. Now the right eye is very weak and i basically only use my left eye now for everything, unless i close it. btw im 20 now
I know, I know but I am like Rocketman Tex, I worry a lot that I will have to get it done again and no one can guarantee me that this is foolproof. It is too much of a risk for me to take, I feel.
My eyes suck. I had Lasik about 6 or 7 years ago. That went fine, but my night vision hasn't been as crisp since. I've had retinal tears in both eyes. They had to be zapped by a laser. That was NOT fun. I recently developed a cataract in my left eye, probably from the sun because I'm way under the usual cataract age. I had that fixed a few months ago. That threw off the LASIK I had done in that eye so now I have to wear glasses now and then. It also threw off my reading vision in my left eye. That's something they don't tell you about when you get Lasik. Most of us will develop cataracts later in life. It's a lot harder to correct your vision again if you've had Lasik then have to have cataract surgery. You people with 20/20 vision should get on your knees and thank God nightly.
i've been squinting at stuff since about my junior year of high school. i finally got glasses after my freshman year of college. i only wear them in class as of now b/c it's only far away stuff that i can't see. i'm getting to the point though that i have trouble reading stuff on a tv screen now unless i'm really close. like i can't lay in bed and watch basketball and tell what the score is. so i'm getting really close trying out contacts. i don't think i'd want to have glasses on all the time b/c they're annoying if you're moving around but eventually i'm going to need something full time. i'll probably try contacts out this summer and hopefully it goes well. if i had to guess, i'm probably around 20/50 or 20/60. i remember the last time i got my eyes checked for a license (about 5 years ago), on the vision test i got down to the 20/40 line and i was just guessing at numbers. amazingly, the lady gave me about 4 tries on some of the numbers and since 6, 8, and 9 were the only numbers in the lines i would eventually get each part of the line. somehow that was good enough and i got my license. and my eyes are definitely worse since then. i got my most recent license renewal on line and just said my eyes were the same. i can see cars and everything else just fine but can't read street names until i'm pretty close. and if i knew for 100% certain that nothing would go wrong with the lasik, that i would have 20/20 vision, that i wouldn't have those halos or whatever, that my night vision would be fine, that nothing would go wrong, i'd get it no matter the cost. it's just something as important as your eyes isn't something i wanna mess around with even with really really good chances of success. i'll give them a few more years to really get it down and iron out the kinks.
I've had glasses for almost exactly as long as I've had arthritis. Apparently not only does rheumatoid arthritis mess your joints up, but it can also have other impacts such as your vision crapping out. Damn Arthritis. Although, everyone else in my family has vision problems too... But I'd still like to think that I'd have at least gone a few more years in life without having glasses/contacts, and maybe I wouldn't have such horrible vision as I do now.
Faos, Your experience with LASIK is EXACTLY why I have not gotten it done yet. I am like f4p - until they can iron crap like that out, it is too much of a risk to take, especially if that means crap like retinal tears and cataracts.
