Here's another admittedly wishful trade idea: (realgm trade id: 2382286)

    Lakers:
Outgoing- Lamar Odom and Caron Butler
Incoming- Robert Swift, Nick Collison, Juwan Howard, and Clarence Weatherspoon

    Sonics:
Outgoing- Rober Swift, Nick Collison, and Rashard Lewis
Incoming- Lamar Odom and Caron Butler

    Rockets:
Outgoing- Juwan Howard and Clarence Weatherspoon
    Incoming- Rashard Lewis

Logic: Seattle gets a new 1-2 punch if Ray Allen leaves town. LA gets the big bodied center they covet, 2 solid role players who won't get frustrated over Bryant's ballhogging and a massive expiring contract. Rockets get the 3rd piece of their championship puzzle; a versatile and athletic player who is proficient in both forward spots.

Let's call CD right now and let him in on the good news...

More wishful thinking: (realgm trade id:2382334)

    Memphis:
    Outgoing- Posey, Williams, Miller
Incoming- Howard, Weatherspoon, Norris, and Ward

    Houston:
Outgoing- Howard, Weatherspoon, Norris, and Ward
    Incoming- Posey, Williams, Miller

Logic: Memphis may be looking to start over and this would give them the expiring contracts to do so. We may have to throw in a pick or two to make it happen.

The first trade isn't actually all that bad, if LA wasn't getting completely screwed. The second trade...:D

The lakers would be trading their 2nd and 3rd best players for another team's garbage. If the lakers did that trade, Mitch Kupchak should be fired.

these trade threads are stupid cuz nothing is ever going to happen and most of them are just plain r****ded with no logic behind it and it is always LOPSIDED trades that benifit the rockets. which will be great if they EVER HAPPEN but they WONT

    How about

Lakers Ist rounder in 2005+Caron Butler+Brian Grant for

    Juwan Howard+Spoon+Baker

Lakers get the cap relief, get a servicible 4 and put Odom to his natural position at 3.

Rockets get young and dynamic swingman and tough 4/5. Rockets can then trade their and Lakers pick+TE+expiring contracts to upgrade other position-mainly starting 4 and PG.

    Makes sense?

Actually, here's a good rule --> Creation of trade threads may only be done if accompanied by $10 min. donations to the tipjar. Help offset the waste of bandwidth.

I used to agree that trades like this cannot happen. Then I saw this one:

    Rockets:
Outgoing- Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato
Incoming- Tracy McGrady, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue, and Reece Gaines

    Magic:
Outgoing- Tracy McGrady, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue, and Reece Gaines
Incoming- Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato

Now I realize that getting third tier small forwards for expiring contracts is not impossible.

Well, I love trade threads. Keep 'em coming!

These days you have to trade contracts while talent is a secondary consideration, i.e. you can't trade talent if the contracts don't match up.

    So anything is possible.
