I've worn contact lenses for 20 years now. I have thought about LASIK surgery but have passed on it for now. I am betting that less than a third of the responses will be the last choice - perfect vision.
Its hard to believe how dependent I have become on my contacts (or glasses). Without them, I can't see anything. For hundreds of years, people had poor vision, and could do nothing about it.
Got glasses when I was 8, contacts when I was 11 and now I'm 26. RGPs...gotta love em. I'm completely uselss without some sort of corrective wear.
I have amblyopia in my left eye. The right one is fine but the different visions in both make headaches frequent and grueling.
I'm 51. I only need glasses for small print so I keep a pair of reading glasses at my desk and in the kitchen.
Glasses or contacts since I was 9 years old. I have wanted to get LASIK for a while now but haven't pulled the trigger. My eye doctor is Berkley Eye Center and they harp on me to get LASIK every time I go in for an eye exam. My standard response is "when you pay for it, I'll get it done", but in reality, I'm going to wait until I am closer to 50 years old (not too far away). I've heard that people who get it done earlier in life often get it done a second time later in life to ditch reading glasses.
what are you talking about? For thousands of years, most people had great vision. Only recently have our vision declined because we are forced to stare at objects only a few feet away from us for hours, such as books, television, movies,...
I wear glasses at work, but never needed to until I started working with computers...I should probably where them more often, but don't...
I voted "perfect", since I've never had glasses, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm beginning to get presbyopia (a.k.a. farsightedness caused by old age, although I'm "just" 33). If I can't focus on reasonably-sized text at about a distance of 6 inches, is that normal? 1/3 perfect seemed like a low estimate to me, but that was exactly what it was (7 out of 21) before I voted. It's probably because nobody in my immediate family needed them before they got old.
Out of your poll, you missed these options: I used to wear glasses for a small amount of prescription. Now I occasionally use them, but can see well. or maybe: A doctor prescribed glasses for me a while back, but I stopped wearing them and I see OK now. I rarely use them. Such are the two poll items from where I would choose. I do not fit in ANY of the other categories. Or maybe there was a MIRACLE and now I can see? what happened? Why is that?
I've never had glasses or contacts. I may be a little bit nearsighted. In the late part of high school, I noticed that things far away would come into focus better if I would squint. That's still true, but it hasn't gotten any worse since then. There isn't anything that I really would need to be able to see that well for. I can get by, even though I'm probably not quite "perfect".
I have no idea what -5.75 means. I have vision around 20/40 and I like to live on the wild side. 33 and no glasses, yet.
-6 right -7 left I need Lasik, but waiting until next year, when I will max out the medical savings program and get a nice 30% discount.
