I somehow managed to switch to a different profile, thus losing all my bookmarks and stuff like that. I can't seem to get back to the default profile, can anyone help?
Just do a search on your C drive (or home directory) and find all files that are named "bookmarks.html." It might be named "favorites.html" on Windows. I'm not sure. But try both. Once you find them, copy all of them to a folder on your desktop. Then, look at the date and size of that bookmarks.html file - sort by detail. You should be able to tell which one is the old bookmarks (larger one). Once you find that out, open your browser and then import the bookmark file. All your other settings can be redone. Those aren't as important.
I actually had the same problem a while ago and never figured it out either, although I didn't try very hard. Does anyone know how to switch profiles on Firefox and not just reimport the bookmarks?
Same thing happened to me about a month ago, but I didn't lose all my Favorites. For some reason, it kept all the bookmarks that were in folders, but all the loose ones (under the generic) Bookmark folder. Because I hadn't taken the time to organize a lot of my bookmarks, I lost about half of them. The favorites.html bit didn't work either. I paid for some Firefox support when I switched laptops last winter, but they couldn't figure it out. No huge deal, and I love the browser, but it was a little frustrating.
Did anyone ever figure this out? I just upgrade to Mozilla 1.04 or whatever the newest one is and lost all my bookmarks, and can't find them anywhere on my hard drive.
