While the lack of a current CBA agreement will put a definite slow down on sigining free agents, etc... there always seem to be 1-2 Euro free agents signed that add value to some teams.. For instance, Andres Noccini for the BULLs I believe was a signed FA for them. Based on an article from Nbadraft.net, scouts feel this guy is NBA ready.. Anthony Parker 6-5 190 SG Maccabi Tel Aviv 1975 The top overall player in European basketball, when you watch him play you can't help but wonder how he's not in the NBA. He's got all the attributes to be one of the top handful of shooting guards in the NBA. Decent size at 6-5 and a half. Quickness and good strength. Basketball understanding. Competitiveness. Passing ability. His offensive game is extremely polished. His best attribute is creating off the dribble. His overall skills and athleticism should make adapting to the NBA a snap. The biggest question: Does he want to leave his perch atop European basketball to take a diminished role in the NBA? Based on the above, he it would seem he has some potential to add size and ability to our 2 guard spot ..
Sorry forgot the link if any are interested .. http://www.nbadraft.net/2005euroleaguefinalfour004.asp
I remember this guy getting drafted in the first round a long time ago.......i don't remember which team.....but i think he plays kinda like derek anderson
I've heard rumors that Fabricio Oberto (6'10", C/PF, 1975, Argentina) is interested in getting in the NBA next year. This guy is a very good post player and rebounder. He also has a very reliable mid-range jumper. In the past he's always been reluctant to make the jump to the NBA. If he does come over next year, the Rockets should try to sign him. He can be a very good big man at a cheap price.
I'll pass on Parker, unless it's Tony Parker. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/anthony_parker/index.html
Free agency does not start until July - will is a very strong word especially since the current CBA has not expired.
Yep thats the one. From what I heard the Rockets were very high on him but he got drafted right before the rockets picked, then we ended up picking Rodrick Rhodes.
here is overwiew top free agents who played this year in Europe here is what they say 'bout Parker: So what are the chances of seeing him in the NBA next year? Unfortunately for the NBA, zero apparently. NBA teams had a chance to sign him last summer, but no one stepped up to the plate with a contract worthy of the best player in Europe. The best offers he got according to his agent Henry Thomas were non-guaranteed deals and invites to come prove himself in summer league. That’s truly an insult for such a fantastic player, especially when you consider the tens of millions of dollars in guaranteed contracts that are thrown at teenage Europeans every single year to come and warm an NBA bench. Parker is in his prime and could have given an NBA team as much or more than anyone coming out of Europe or the NCAA. Now its too late, though. Parker just recently signed a two year contract with Maccabi rumored to be worth about three million dollars. He doesn’t seem to be sweating it even one bit, as him and his family are ecstatic living in Tel Aviv where they are treated like royalty. It's NBA teams who should be kicking themselves for dropping the ball. They let the next Manu Ginobili or Marquis Daniels slip right through their fingers...again.
BTW Rodrick Rhodes ended up with better NBA career than Anthony Parker. But Parker is lot developed and he is more complete player, a lot of better player. but who cares, he and his family is treated in Tel-Aviv as royalty now and couple of more years.
