Wow - did not know that people were going to prison for possession. I got arrested once when a cop saw a pipe in my car with resin on it. Got handcuffed and everything. When I went to court, it turned out that they didn't bother to file the papers so it was ok. While I wouldn't call mj a harmless drug (pretty close though) - there are bigger fish to fry. And I do think that alcohol is far more dangerous.
Decriminalization, but not legalization. Weed would be less damaging than alcohol if it was cheaper to ingest than to inhale. If there isn't a government cap that drives up higher prices, then the black market wouldn't have a lucrative motivation to sell it, and quite possibly, illicit drugs would have a harder time reaching people only intersted in weed. etc...etc...
I agree with TJ. The FBI needs to be more responsible citizens, and maybe even pay to the taxpayers all of the $$$ they waste busting stoners.
Agreed. I hate that there are ANY laws telling me what I can and cannot do with my own body. Andy, I clicked on and read your article. Good stuff. Legalize!
Actually, I prefer the term "regulation" as that is really what I want to see. I would prefer it if the people who distribute drugs were legitimate business people with a lot to lose if drugs ended up in the hands of our children. In addition, regulation is the only way we will be able to take the drug profits out of the hands of criminals and turn it into tax revenue.
I agree that the Feds should spend our tax money on more appropriate criminal activity. If someone wants to smoke a doobie in the privacy of their own home so be it. From past experiences such as high school and college, I was much more in control after smoking a joint then drinking. I dont do it anymore but if someone wants to "indulge" I dont see it as a criminal activity although I do realize it is illegal, I just think that there are bigger fish to fry. Could you imagine the money we could infuse into Social Security program if we were to tax weed, now why cant GWB come up with that plan
Not to mention the savings in current expenditures that go toward arresting, prosecuting, and incarcerating people who use mar1juana. Heck, with that much money, we might even be able to see that all Americans have affordable health insurance.
I personally think they should make the penalties stiffer for pot smokers. Either that or force them to pay reparations to the vast majority of the country who doesn't tie up police and FBI resources through their self indulgent drug binges. That would be sweet justice. Put them in work camps where they can pay for the costs of being in prison.
This Nation was build on disobediance of silly laws i.e. Tea taxes, etc Some of us just won't put our heads in the sands or say we were just following [orders] Laws Real Americans stand in the face is silliness . . and not just say . .oh its the law. . . Rocket River
I beleive in stiff penalties as well I think White Collar Criminals should have to give all their assets to charity and force into poverty for the length of their probation Rocket River
You could be the biggest idiot ever to disgrace this board. Engage in a reasoned debate [outrageous French accent] or I shall taunt you a second time.[/accent]
All I can do is laugh at T_J and marvel that he got into Rice. I think everyone on the BBS should but him and his 'brother' on their ignore list.
If I'm his "brother", why do you want to put me on your ignore list? Please tell me. You criticize too much without backing up your facts.
