If you can explain why this fool should get any sympathy from anyone, your God included, in a paragraph or less, sure. :)

quite apart from that nasty habit of raping his wife and paying $2000 for hummers, does he sound like the kind of guy who should be sitting on a committee about reproductive drugs???

Don't judge people. No one is righteous. His sins are redeemed by Jesus, just like mine. However, the crime he committed, still need to be punished by the law. But you have to make sure your suggestion would actually be punishment to him, because he might really enjoy it.

Yes his sins are redeemed, has he admitted his sins and confessed with a true heart? Does it matter?

The point, in my mind, is that it's disgusting for an evangelical, holier-than-thou Christian to behave that way and then write books about Jesus and the Vagina...:p

ok...but if you want to discuss it past this, email me.

Christianity teaches that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God...but God redeems sinners through Christ, anyway.

    Luke 5:
29Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. 30But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" 31Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

    Romans 5:
6You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

    1Timothy 1:
12I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. 13Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. 17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The Apostle Paul was a man who murdered Christians before he was met with grace. He hunted them down and killed them. His argument was that if he could be redeemed/changed, anyone could.

if he's holier-than-thou, then he isn't a Christian. Like I said, he committed the crime, he has to be punished.

careful, though. in certain contexts it's appropriate..particularly among church leadership.

don't condemn people is a far better way to express it, i believe.

    i feel like i've just hijacked a thread...sorry.

curiously, this was an argument i heard among Christians during the Clinton impeachment...that he was a Christian and that we shouldn't judge the behavior because he'd have to deal with God about it. that we shouldn't judge.

this means as a Christian, there can be no criminal consequence for me...assuming you apply that broadly. and that's just wrong.

You are right, that's just wrong. Maybe we shouldn't judge him in the position of God, or in a righteous position. However, if he violates the law, the law enforcement and legal system will deal with his wrong-doings, although he still has to deal with God about his own sin.

I remember in the Bible, (not exact English wording), someone asked Jesus about paying taxes. He said what belongs to God should be handed in to God, what belongs to Cesar should be handed in to Cesar. My understanding is, you follow the law of God in your privacy and your heart, and you also need to follow the law of society in public.

Does Christ have anything to say about taxing for defense budget?

i'm guessing Caesar had a pretty hefty defense budget :)

but the Caesar thing was really the brilliance of Christ. not so much a statement I think on taxes...but rather a very clever way out of a jam. if he says, pay your taxes, he loses credibility among Jews...if he says, don't pay your taxes, he's instantly in trouble with the Roman authorities. so he address the problem from the heart...says, "hey..the picture on the coin is of Caesar...so this must belong to him...give it to him, then. oh, and by the way...go ahead and give to God what is God's." :)

    Really?:)

    In Luke Chapter 20:

"21": And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:

"22": Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?

"23": But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?

"24": Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's.

"25": And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.

"26": And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

    He didn't complain.

Thanks. About Meowgi, although sometimes in different opinions, and I haven't been here long enough to know the history, but I can see who's trying to discuss or debate with different opinon, who's not. At least, I have to pretend that I am interested in different views; otherwise, I shouldn't be in a forum:)
