If you plan on seeing Episode III, I highly recommend that you catch both seasons of clone wars. It really brings the story between II and III closer. You get a lot of background info on the characters and you see how Anakin goes from Padawan to Knight. The story is very well done and the animation is great. I belive it is by the same people who did the Samurai Jack series. The reason I bring all this up is that Cartoon Network is going to air both CloneWars seasons together on Saturday at 6:00 cst.
My friend has them on DVD along with 500 hours or so of unwatched DVDs sitting in his house. Was there ever anything made that tells the story between episode 3 and 4? Telling the story of how Darth Vader rose to power might be cool. On the other hand, 25 years worth of Luke on the moisture farm dive-bombing womp rats seems a little dull...
He will. My sin and I watched it a few weeks ago. I am not sure I ma taking him to the new movie or not though. I am going to see it first to make sure I want him to see it.
i've decided i'm taking my son. i've been talking a lot about it to him, preparing him for it. using it as an object lesson for good and evil...that sort of thing. i've prepared him a bit for some of the more grisly scenes i've read about.
Kevin Smith said in his review that he wouldn't take his kid to the EPIII and thats goo denough for me.
i read that, too. depends on the kid. curiously, lucas has said the same thing...but is advertising like crazy on Nickelodeon!
That is exactly why I am going to reserve judgement on it. What is right for my kid may not be right for your kid and so forth. I'm like you Max, my almost 5 year old has a pretty good grasp of what is real and what is fake, and he understands that movies are made up stories and not reality. I think my greatest concern will be how graphic the violence will be. If they handle it where you see a ton of body parts getting chopped off, then I may not want him to see it. If they do it like episodes past where it is more implied that someone was killed but they don't show them all bloody and missing parts, then I would be more inclined to let him see it. That is really why I am going to see it next Friday and then I will make a judgement on whether or not it is suitable for him.
i hear ya. from what i've read, it sounds like you still don't actually see flailing body parts and blood. it stuck at a PG-13 rating. the scene that's described as most grisly is Yoda walking through a hall filled with dead Jedi children. i've specifically already talked to my son about this. im more concerned about the dark overtones being too scary...but knowing my son, i don't think it will be a problem. i'm not saying you're wrong! don't misunderstand me! you're the dad..you're in charge..you make the call!!!!
take your kids! I haven't seen it but still if its PG-13 take them! we're talking about Star Wars!! I used to watch Rambo when I was 5! Just tell them its movie magic and they'll understand..kids aren't stupid
Uh, the climactic scene might be a bit much for a young kid. I saw the movie last Thursday and was surprised at how graphic the ending duel was.
In any event, after seeing what Obi-wan will do to Anakin, you can tell your kids why they should never play with laser swords. That way, you don't have to worry about locking yours in a safe and you can keep it in your nightstand for easy access.
