Just a little local news.. Spec's bought out Copperfield Liquor this week. I think that brings their total to around 60 stores.
"and remember, when we say 5% off purchases when using cash, we really mean cash, check, or debit card" ....well, then why didn't you say that in the first place, ya douche bags!!
good. Always loved their stores, and they're even better since they started offering on site- keg service. Also big ups for finally carying Dogfish Head beers (the 90 Minute IPA is an ass kicker) and the Bigfoot Barley Wine (even more of an ass kicker at nearly 10% apv)
Not sure how "good." it will be for you.. they can do whatever they want with their prices now. Because it sounds better than saying you add 5% when buying with a credit card!
I shop there for selection, not prices. I like beer period and I'm hardly a snob, but they definitely don't sell my favorites at the grocery store or Paco's Joy Juice Package Store #2.
That's funny, I actually ran into Rocketman95 there one weekend. I was already on my way to being intoxicated from the many samples being offered that day.
They are the closest thing to being the Walmart of cigar stores.. good slection(not the best-MINUS DOWNTOWN) and price, we got one in Katy and down the block from work so good cigars are always close for the great ones I have to get my ass to the downtown store or go to another small private store.. I really like Specs..
Wow....and Copperfield had bought out Bert Wheelers. What a goliath Specs is now. Here's a shout out to Gabe and all the other wine guru's at Spec's on Smith.
WHat do those cards do, anyway? I have one and use it, but as far as I know I've never got a discount and have never got any rewards.
apparently you have to go to the website for info on your points and what you can do with them... I'm racking them up too! http://www.specsonline.com/ You know what else rules at Specs Downtown (midtown)??? They're deli!! I loves me some Spec's pre-made Po-Boys!!!
If you're looking for hard to find wines, they'll take down your name and number. If the demand is much higher than supply, you use Spec's points to be "first in line." We've used some in the past, but they haven't asked for any points in a while. then again, we've chilled out on buying some of the more expensive stuff.
They do the same for the hard to find cigars to limit people from buying them out if you know the guys they will sell you the stuff without the points if they see you come in all the time.. Also I think I got cheap glass with some points I had leftover, nothing great.. it reminds me of what people used to do with them "Camel cigarette bucks" collect and get crap back, oh welll something is better than nothing..
For those of you who don't know yet, there deli is fantastic! I get a sandwich from there a couple of times a month, at least! Try the Californian. Pretty much a pile of turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, avacado, sprouts and onions with provolone cheese.
