Although I thought the movie was one of their weaker efforts (its still a great film); O Brother Where Art Thou has the best sound track I've heard in years!

If you are interested in mountain music, delta blues, gospel, chain gang chants and bluegrass this is a CD for you.

Simply amazing and a lot of fun! I have a feeling that this CD is not going to leave my player for a long time!

mc mark: If you like the bluegrass stuff, I strongly urge you to listen to Houston's listener sponsored radio station, KPFT on Saturday afternoons between 3pm and 6pm EST. You can listen online at http://www.kpft.org .

Between 3 and 6 on Saturdays, they have a bluegrass show called Pickin' and Swingin' that is straight bluegrass and western swing. The guy who hosts the show knows a LOT about bluegrass and he even gives lists (via email) of his best bluegrass albums of the year.

    Really great stuff.

I really enjoyed that movie. The music is what really gave it character.

I love the soundtrack. I've had it about a weeks and I think it is really awesome.
On another note, I got my brother a DVD for Christmas that is the history of bluegrass. It is a documentary and he loves it. I ordered it from amazon if you are interested.

    Jeff,

Yes, I know all about KPFT, although I don't remember if it was the same program; I remember a Saturday morning program in the late 80s early 90s. But I remember KPFT having a great show. If memory serves correctly KTRU used to have a great Bluegrass program.

Ty are you gonna go buy the CD? [IMG]

Ali, what’s the name the DVD that you bought?

The Coen brothers have a great knack for soundtracks in their movies. They almost always have very strange, unusual type songs that always accentuate the on screen action.

I loved The Big Lebowski, and it was very similar in that respect.

    Good Morning Rocket Fans!

RR what's really cool about the Coen Brothers is that they almost always pick the music for their movies first to use as inspiration during writing, and pre-production.

Before they shoot a frame of film, they already have a musical backdrop to work with.

I don't know to many other directors that do that. Usually the music is the last thing added to a film.
