Avery Johnson....signed with Denver?!?!?! Weird, they have Van Exel, Pack, Omar Cook, and Anthony Goldwire. What to do about all these point guards? On a different note, Ousmane Cisse was listed at 6'9" and Denver drafted him with that understanding. Apparently, he measured 6'6" by Denver coaches. He he he he! Is that false advertisement? ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
DIDN'T THE MEASURE / SEE THE GUY BEFORE THEY DRAFTED HIM??? JEeesss mismanagement at it's best Rocket River ------------------
I believe that both Pack and Goldwire are free agents, and the addition of AJ & Cook means neither will be back. Regarding Cisse, I don't think they worked him out because they didn't think he'd fall that far. You don't have to offer a second-round pick a contract, so there's no real harm in taking a chance on the guy. The Warriors did much the same thing with Chris Porter last year, and they're glad they did.
Also remember Cisse had the really tough Guardian that was difficult to deal with. That might explain why Denver never found out about his real height... ------------------ President of the CC.net Realist Club, everyone needs a dose of reality once in a while...
Pack's a free agent and Goldwire's a stiff. Cook's a project, only 19, not ready to play. We're overpaying Johnson, but that was expected. As for Cisse, where'd you hear he was 6'6"? I haven't heard anything along those lines. And the only reason they drafted him was the reasons listed here. Potential, and the fact we didn't have to offer him a contract. ------------------ Nuggets4 Re-Sign Sakic, Blake and Roy! Sell the Nuggets!!
Sportscenter (Rich Eisen) actually had about a two minute spot about Cisse's real height. That's where I heard it. ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.

To see a link for Cisse click here, then scroll down to Nuggets Duped
I dont think that its so much that they signed AJ, but rather that they seem to be pursuing no clear plan. With the 2 or 3 decent youngish players that they have (McDyess, Raef) they should be building around them. Instead, they go out and get over the hill players like Calbert Chaney, George McCloud, and now AJ. The Nuggets are not a team, but rather a collection of players, and not a very good one at that. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Ottomaton (edited July 19, 2001).]
I still think that eventually Cissce might play in the NBA. The new size numbers are disappointing, but compared with Donnel Harvey (6-8, 220), the player whom he compares most favorably with, those numbers aren't that bad. Still, its just another slap in the face of a horibly mismanaged franchise that this would happen to them. ------------------
BINGO!!! Tell him what he's won Johnny! This franchise is a sad wreck, and it's all because of one man -- Dan Issel. Have you heard about our "GM Search"? Our owner made Issel choose one of his jobs (I prayed he woudl choose GM, at least give our talent a shot with a real coach) and he chose coach. Well, now he's trying to find a GM who will work with him. We interviewed 6 people -- the three REAL cantidates all backed out almost immediately after hte interview. Everyone knows it's a joke, even the local cartoonists: http://denver.rockymountainnews.com/art/drew/0712drew550x386.gif To make things worse, the team was recently announced as the least popular sports team in this state, next to the Colorado Rapids (our professional soccer team). Yeah. Hopefully our owner is reading this stuff. Story. Can you tell I've already given up on this season? I know we have talent, we could sneak into the playoffs with a good coach, however, with what we have now, I'm fully expecting a high lottery pick. Hopefully we'll have a new front office in place by then. ------------------ Nuggets4 Re-Sign Sakic, Blake and Roy! Sell the Nuggets!!
Wow, that takes a lot of guts to come out and admit that - expecially considering that it's true that the talent IS there at Denver! ------------------
Yeah, but the only Nugget anyone's interested in here is Raef LaFrentz. Ya think Issell would trade one of the 10 legitimate NBA centers for KT and a 1st rounder, Nuggets4? ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
Or how about our usual... Walt Williams, Cato, and a future first rounder. Our Nuggets visitors love that tandem. ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
I also thought it was funny when I saw a quote with Issel saying something to the effect of, "Hiring a GM isn't nearly as important as free agents." Of course it isn't for you Dan. But I think most Nuggets fans would feel alot more comfortable having someone else making the free agent decisions. He's almost acting like adding a GM is not going to lessen his power. If I was a Nuggets fan, that'd be my worst nightmare. ------------------
You guys are seeing hte light!!! Honestly, last season (early), I wouldn't have minded trading Raef. He's good, but he's REALLY inconsistent and he gets pushed around too easily. However, being around the team for a while opened my eyes a little. Raef just needs the confidence to know he can try something and NOT be yanked/yelled at by our jack@ss head coach. That said, it wouldn't surprise me to see him dealt. HOPEFULLY not to you guys though. For obvious reasons (namely, you're in our division and revenge is a dish best served cold). And the talent IS in Denver. I like how we match up. Hell, we put a scare in the Lakers all the time (thank you Van Exel!). We needed a backup point guard. Avery Johnson solves that. We still could use an inside bruiser, but so can everyone else in the league. Also, if we dump Issel, not only will Raef's gmae improve, but watch Abdul-Wahad. He's a good player, and could really help this team, if given the chance. I know he hates playing for Issel. He said so on his web site (granted, it was in French). Sigh, 9 more months of the Issel regime. ------------------ Nuggets4 Re-Sign Sakic, Blake and Roy! Sell the Nuggets!!
