I voted Pistons. Out of all the teams mentioned, they would be the only one that wins and nobody really cares.

I like Shaq, but it is still somewhat annoying to see him there every year, every time. I actually like the Spurs as a team, but they are from Texas, as is Dallas, so can't root for either of them. I'm already tired of the Suns winning all these awards, etc. And, though I respect Reggie, I've seen that guy flop so many times on the court, and, more frequently jump into people for fouls, I think it is fair that he will never win one.

So, that leaves Washington, Seattle and Detroit. I'd be fine with any of them, but I still have old school hate for Seattle. So that leaves Washington and Detroit. Washington won't be playing much longer, so the only realistic choice to me is...Detroit.

    In my order of preference:

    Pacers, for Reggie.
    Heat, for Kobe.
Pistons, for Larry Brown and good team ball.
Wizards, because they aren't in the West.

I'd like to see Cuban get eliminated by the Suns, though I certainly don't ever want to see that p*nk*ass Amare Stoudemire smile.

Miami, mainly because of my boy ZO. I have been a diehard fan of his since his rookie season in Charlotte. He has played fairly well (not a 20, 10, and 3 blk a game guy anymore for obvious reasons) considering his kidney transplant. Go HEAT now that the Rox can't win it all!

Pistons. Rasheed Wallace is still my favorite player in the NBA. No problems with the rest of the team either.

Suns. When was the last time a team scored 120+ points in a Finals game?

Spurs. Tim Duncan is still the best in the league, I wouldn't have a problem seeing the best win again.

    Heat. Shaq makes me sick.

Nice to know I'm not the only one he has that effect on. Anyway, Pistons win it all this year when they play the Spurs in the finals.

Pistons....I love it when a TEAM, not a group with a couple of marketable superstars wins. I couldn't stand Stern before the whole Van Gundy mess, even more so now. And Stern can't stand when Detoit wins. The only team Stern can't stand more than them is our beloved Rockets.

    Tell me about it.....

I would rather die before I root for either the Spers or Mavs willingly. I hate both of those teams so much.

I am pulling for the Suns because I like their style of play and how they came out of nowhere this year. Probably the Heat is 2nd simply because I would love to see that punk Kobe get his comeuppance and D Wade is awesome to watch (it is definitely not because of the monotone Shaq).

I hope Detroit loses so I don't have to hear their annoying Public Address announcer.

I understand Rocket fan not rooting for the Spurs; can't help yourself - but you CAN'T want the Suns to win.

If Suns win, it means there HAS been in change in the way the playoffs are called - and the NBA is favoring teams that play like the Suns. Great - it's "pretty" and high-scoring.

    BUT...

It's not the way the Rockets are built - and they can't be cast in that mold for the forseeable future.

IMO, if the Spurs or Pistons - or to a lesser extent, Miami, win it (& conventional wisdom suggest one of those teams - with their focus on defense & a post presence) - it bodes well for the future success of the Rockets; they are the standard bearer for this style & team structure. If the Suns DO win this year; who is equipped to challenge that squad for the forseeable future?

Defense wins has been conventional wisdom since the late '80's in the NBA - Rocket fan better hope it stays that way.

Same here. As much as they pissed me off in the series against the Rox, I still have to root for them. Living in Dallas for 4 years brainwashes you a bit...

My second choice would be the Pacers. I have a soft spot for Reggie for some reason...

I usually pull for the team that beats the Rox, and for some reason they usually go to the finals. But I can't stand the Mavs now. And not only that, I have always liked the Heat. So I'm pulling for Wade and company. And at the time of this writing, my vote pulled the Heat even with the Spurs with 50 votes each!

Totally agree. They remind me a little bit of the old Rockets championship teams in that their reward for surprising everyone and winning the championship was for the NBA and the media to either ignore them or root against them because they're not flashy or marketable enough.

I'd also accept the Spurs or Heat winning, since those teams play more like the Rockets, and it's important to me that a more traditional style overcome the glitz the league is pushing in the form of teams like Phoenix.

Any one but the Mavs. If they win it all, which is totally impossible. I will never watch NBA again and there's no justice in the world. There's no good and evil any more.

    Heat:

    1. Stan Van Gundy
    2. Alonzo Mourning
    3. Dwyane Wade
    4. Shaq

Why Shaq? Who has consistently said that Hakeem Olajuwon was the best center he ever faced? Who calls McGrady his boy and says that he's one of the 3 players that he'd watch in the playoffs? Who gives Yao the respect he deserves? Who has a house in Houston? Who trains in Houston in the off-season?

And, most important, who had the best putdown of Erick Dampier this season?

    Shaq.

Heat, because I'm from Miami and I've been a lifelong fan (Rockets come first, though)
