I've decided to cut off all ties I have with sports for the next 2 weeks. I spend quite a bit of time reading, watching, and listening to sports/ sports radio, and during the Rockets playoff run I realized I let the games affect me way too much. Of course I picked the time of year that baseball is the only thing really going on besides NBA playoffs, so this will be much easier than trying in November or something. This experiment is really more about just seeing for myself how hard it is to go without anything related to sports. No games, no sports radio, no sports page, nothing. I'm also limiting myself to the Hangout on the bbs. Given the way the game went on Saturday, I'm probably doing myself a favor anyways by staying out of the GARM. So far the most difficult thing was not listening to 610 in the car during my hour commute this morning. Has anyone else ever tried something like this?
Impossible. For me at least. I used to make fun of you guys who play fantasy sports. I even started a thread about it. Now, after being conned into joining a basketball league and coming in 9th place (out of 10 teams), I'm addicted. My baseball team is in first place and I've turned into a fantasy dork like all you guys.
You mean you are going to give up Astro's baseball and the Comets? Are you really sure you want to do that?
I've decided not to watch any more Sportscenter. I haven't watched it in nearly 2 weeks. But my boycott doesn't include NBATV...or ESPNNEWS...the Southwest Sports Report, for that matter...but you get the point. That show is crap that I finally realized was being targeted specifically at me...and it had me for a while. But now I'm pissed at it for getting one over on me. And I'm not really too into sports right now either, so.... McDonald's [*]Burger King [*]KFC [*]Sportscenter
I have become far less interested in sports over the last couple of years. Just too much disappointment involved.
