Well, Swift would get playing time and the proper motivation from Jeff Van Gundy in Houston.

    13. Chris Andersen (Player Option)

This is the guy I want. I wanted Damon Jones over Mike James last year (although it was close) and I want Chris Anderson over any of those other guys this year.

    Why?

    1. He's an athletic freak of nature and he absolutely busts ass every game.

    2. He's local. His dad owns a kick-ass biker bar up in Grimes County.

    3. White boy super squad.

    GET IT DONE!

Kid's tough, has a mean streak in him, some JVG coaching would go a LONG way towards making him exactly the kind of player that would fit in well on this team.

MemphisX, your comments should pretty much settle the issue. At his best, Swift makes us no better than Juwon Howard. At worst, we blow a lot of money on the wrong player. We can get depth at the PF for a lot cheaper than signing Swift.

I think Stro is appealing because he is young and athletic, something we all can agree is what this team needs more of. I think we are all hoping Stro could come in and be an atheltic Cato. Someone that can block shots, rebound and make up for Yao's weakness of lack of footspead. Someone that can be quick enough to guard guys like Dirk and Shawn Marion. And someone that can hit a 15 foot jumper. You would hope that JVG would turn Stro into a Marcus Camby type player. That's the idea at least.

The IDEAL player would be Chandler because to me he is much closer to the Camby mold. But we can ALL FORGET about getting Chandler. He is a RFA and the Bulls wont let him go. So let's end the Chandler talk RIGHT NOW.

Other than Swift, who else is out there that would "fit" into our system that would be available? Perhaps guys like SAR and Marshall. But they arent the "young and athletic" PF that we are looking for. But they bring other intangibles such as shooting and scoring. This team still needs a SOLID "3rd Scorer" to help out Tmac and Yao. We cant do the "3rd scorer by committee" next season. We cant count on that.

Those that dont like Stro, who would you go with instead?

Maybe we draft a PF and then use our MLE money on a quality 2/3 guy?

I'd take Chris Anderson. At least you know what you're getting.

Instead of 'Stro? Juwon is an OK starter; lets find a suitable backup who can rebound and actually belongs on an NBA roster. The big money needs to be spent on our new starting backcourt: A PG who can pass and hit the open shot and deadeye SG.

Yeah, I'd prefer to draft a young PF and have Badaine come over and sign Bobby Simmons and we'll all be set to contend.

We have the #24 pick and I think we traded our 2nd rounder to Milwaukee. But I know we picked up a future 2nd rounder from NYK.

    I hope we get either:

    1. Wayne Simien- Strong body, great rebounder, nice inside game.
    2. Hakim Warrick- Athletic, athletic, athletic, suspect offensive game.
    3. Ronny Turiaf- Big body with a nice all around game.

    or

    4. Francisco Garcia- Best shooter in the draft.

Isn't Malick Badiane considered to be an athletic, rebounding, shot blocking 4? If he is, wouldn't Stro be redundant?
I was under the impression that we needed a 4 who could put the ball on the floor and shoot the three. Someone like Vlad Radmanovich (sp?) or Donyell Marshall. A healthy Jonathon Bender would be ideal.

    I agree he's worth a look. Here's what I wrote in NIKEStrad's thread:

Take a look at Sammy Dalembert. He was on the verge of a break out year this year, but Jim O'Brien screwed up his development with his bizarre substitution problems.

I saw about 6-7 Sixers games in person this year, and Sammy has a lot of the skills we need. Very active around the boards, very athletic, good shotblocker. he just averaged almost 13 boards a game in the first round against Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, McDyess and Prince. Not bad. (I would like to see him hit the 15-18 footer more reliably, though.)

Plus, he's so annoyed at O'Brien that he and his agent were playing coy in the papers the day after they got eliminated about whether or not he wanted to come back.

The only thing is that I think he's a restricted free agent, and Billy King has said all year that Dalembert, Korver, and Iguodala will be re-signed at all costs.

    The kid is 23.

Chandler and Dalembert are pipe dreams, probably so is Haslem. Swift doesn't seem to be what we need.

I'd take a chance at Kwame Brown. He is a hot potato right now. We can get him cheap. A new place may do wonders to a young confused guy like him. With two superstars on team, he won't feel he should be the man.

My take on Kwame is exactly the same as the story of when Eddie Jordan spoke to Bill Parcells about Kwame on how to handle him. Parcells said players like Kwame are lures that lure you with their potential but thats all they will ever be is "Lures". Best thing to do with a lure is to cut the line.

Dan Gadrizic of the Bucks is the guy that intrigues me, he has complementary skill sets to Juwan and would be the rebounder, shot blocker we need to play along side Yao. He plays center for the Bucks but I think he has the athletic ability to play the 4, I think he can be had for 2-3 mil a year. Swift definitely didn't sign a 1 year deal last year for an MLE deal, I think someone offers him an 8M multiyear deal and I wouldn't chase him, too many questions surronding the guy in my mind.

Bring back Kelvin Cato. Defensively, he's very good player. Offensively...he can dunk!
