Not that it hasn't become blatantly obvious based on the performence in the series so far... but I just looked at the series box scores so far and it's not even close... Total Rebounds / Blocks / Points for 6-game Series Dampier: 37 / 5 / 36 Yao: 44 / 14 / 117 Yao slacked off a tad last night though... he actually onlt scored the same amount of points as Dampier.
to be honest...this doesn't even deserve a thread. not calling you out, Quakes...just saying, the whole Dampier comment thing about being the 2nd best center in the league...it doesn't even merit the respect of a response. he's a bit player. the offense never goes through him....he gets his off rebounds. it's not even close.
You guys got it wrong Dampier is the best center in the west.....only when everyone else is standing to the east of him.
Not only has Dampier been outplayed by Yao. He's been outplayed by Yao's backup. While the likes of Jerome James and Nazr Mohammed have proven they are also better centers than him.
Didn't Dampier say that he will demonstrate his ownage to Yao and show the world who really is the best?
Sports center has just declared him the best player in all pro sports period...he's just so good I wish we had him. Dampier is the most over payed center in the West that's about all he can say. what a bozo
Perhaps this morning is not the greatest to have this thread, because last night the Best Center in the West was Dikembe Mutumbo by a wide margin.
I think Yao and Dampier have cancelled each other out. Both get into foul trouble and both suck right now. Dikembe is going to have to step up in Game 7.
Isn't it funny that Dampier scored 8 points in Game 6 and it was regarded as his best game by far, even getting kudos from the announcers...while Yao scored 8 and it was his worst game of the series. That says it all.
Dampier is the best center in the west.....only when everyone else is standing to the east of him. [/B][/QUOTE] I like this
You do realize that Mutombo has had 1 good game in this series, and has been downright poor a couple of games...whereas Yao has had 5 good games and one poor one, right? Mutombo is now a fabulous back-up C...but the obsession escapes me.
You're exactly right on the first point. Yao has been the game's leading scorer twice this series. Dampier's scored 36 the entire time. However, I don't understand how you don't understand the obsession with Mutombo. Players who come off the bench, play their asses off, and fight for the team have always won their way into the hearts of fans. That's what Mutombo has done this season as a Rocket.
